Dear all ,
I had Crohn's since 2017 and my calprotectin level is +1300 which is very high. I was living in Kuwait and moved now to my country Lebanon and waiting from my doctor new medicine.
I would chase up your doctor as a matter of urgency, because your reading is very high, and you don't know what damage you may be causing while waiting.
I had a level of 5000 and told it wasn't Crohn's.
Even though my level was 5000 no damage done
Actually it was +6000 which don't go any higher than that. He said it could many things and put it down to a severe infection. I did the test again months later it was normal and then again after that which was 219 but he still didn't think it was Crohn's. I've done a lot of research and inflammation isn't just chrohns. I saw 2 consultants who said the same thing. He was surprised I didn't go to A&E
I actually done the test again today and it's now 37
So would the infection clear alone? My doc has been useless for informing me
It cleared up by itself. I had small bowel MRI and it was normal so no damage. It's a mystery. I did have a high result a year later Wen I saw a nutritionist and that was 219 and the consultant called it "a blip". And said it could be many things but didn't think it was Crohn's. My symptoms cleared up quite quickly but I still had the stomach cramps for about 4mnths. I got sick 2 yrs ago and haven't been sick since but I'm still having tests because I do get stomach problems but I do have IBS.
Even though my result was the highest it goes he was surprised I didn't go hospital. The strange thing is I didn't feel that sick even though I was going to the toilet 30 times a day.
