Hi, The flexi sig is where they just check the sigmoid or left side of the colon up to where it goes across, approximately. So, it's very similar to a colonoscopy but shorter. I had the enema once, self-administered, but it didn't work too well, so since then I've always gone for full prep. Maybe a light diet for the previous day would help!
Hi if youv had a colonoscopy then a sigmoidoscopy is a walk in the park!!!!So they pop a suppository enema inside your back passage, this will make you empty the lower end ( sigmoid) of the bowel. Basically they scope up only to the top of the left hand side of the descending colon. They will offer a sedative/ muscle relaxer. It’s very quick. You will be fine .
Hi, As is stated by previous people sigmoidoscopy isn't too bad, personally I take a laxative the day before and eat quite sparingly that day. The enema is fine, I always ask for a mild sedative as I get really nervous but I explain how I feel and the staff are always very understanding. It's all over in no time at all and you will soon be going home, and in my case all done for another 3 years !! Good luck but sure you will be fine.
Hi, I find a sigmoidoscopy a lot better in terms of discomfort and and should take abit quicker than a colonoscopy. They normally only use this procedure if they suspect you have colitis/inflammation lower down in the sigmoid or rectum area. The enema should clear you out before hand but you shouldn’t need to keep going after woods. I prefer this to the laxative prep drink u normally take.
