Unopened mescaline tablets

First of all as anyone else suffered with this.I am currently on the maximum dosage of octasa tabs, but recently over the last few weeks I’ve had occasions where up to two pills have been unopened in the first stool movement of the day. To boost the missing pills ive taken salafalk enema and suppository, basically just asking the question as it happened to anyone else and should I seek alternative meds.Lynda x

Are you sure the tablets are complete ? They can sometimes look like that but it's just the outer casing, it's a common happening.

Yes they are complete although in the past I have seen the outer casing.I understand there are about five different brands of messaline tabs, might ask to change from octasa to another one.

Someone once said it could be down to the shell compound and thickness. Lynda x

I was on Asacol and in remission for 20 years then I was changed to Octasa because they are cheaper ! didn't get on at all well with them so changed back to Asacol and no problems since.

My I b d nurse phone me yesterday, and is sending a prescription to my doctor’s to put me on Budenfalk Foam Enema for month . I have told her I am seeing unopened pills in the morning, but she wants me to do this first, But if I still see unopened pills while I am using this foam I going to ask to go on to Asacol pills what do you think . Hi! Sorry to hear your having some troubles still. I’m familiar with this with my son. It is very normal that undigested mesalazine shows in your stool occasionally. It very often happens when your flaring. However if it becomes regular then you do want to think about switching as it won’t be healing you properly. Mesalazine tablets have a ph- delayed release coating , different tablets have different balances so it’s just about fi tone that suits you. Good luck x
