Hi folks, I had my colonoscopy last week, they didn’t find anything which has left me concerned as my calprotectin levels were still high (550), they have took biopsies and get the results in 4-6 weeks. Anyone have any idea what could be causing the inflammation, even tho they can’t trace or find anything visible?
Thanks

The colonoscopy goes from the bottom upwards, so if nothing is found there, they would presumably look to do an endoscopy , from the mouth downwards. Even with both being done there is a gap in the middle that neither will reach. (That's not a bad name for a TV program= Ne'er the twain {shall meet}). The calprotectin tells them there is inflammation, but doesn't tell them where, so they do know there is something, probably playing hide and seek with them. Good luck
I would think either an endoscopy or MRI scan, 'cos if they know it's there, they need to find it to treat it.
I’m in a similar boat although not had calprotectin levels checked. Waiting for biopsy results after colonoscopy. My bro has IBD so chances are higher I have something similar but symptoms are the complete opposite. I think it will be an MRI next if nothing in biopsies but waiting to see gastroenterologist.
