Get started when you're ready. It's addictive when you get going and it's a great feeling reviewing your progress as the weeks go by. 8 weeks ago I struggled running from the car to my front door, now I'm running for 25+ minutes. Weight loss works best by mixing calorie control and activity but be prepared to not "lose" weight but simply tone up and shrink in dress sizes. I've not lost a pound but the change in my shape is very noticeable.

Good luck,

Hi Fran, I'm a 66 year old who last July weighed 14st 4. I went on the 5:2 diet and exercised in the house to lesley Sansone's 2 mile then 5 mile walk. I've just finished week 2 run 1. It's tough but you can do it. Good luck.

Hi Fran,

I was just over 14 stone at the beginning of 2012. I lost about 2 1/2 stone with Slimming World before starting running in September. I graduated in November and apart from some breaks for colds, flu and snow have run 2-3 times a week since. I've "only" lost about another 10 pounds since then but am well on the way to my target of 4 stone lost (which just gets me into the NHS healthy weight range). I turned 50 in December and wanted to change my life before that milestone.

Yes, I found most of C25K tough but I got through it. As others say you have to trust the program. Personally I'd also recommend doing a diet program with group support at the same time. As Twedders says, the biggest change running makes is toning and shape, rather than pure pounds off. It's very easy to think "well I've run half an hour so that makes up for the Mars Bar I crave". True.....but you won't lose weight that way and it's a very easy trap to fall into. I don't know about WeightWatchers but on Slimming World there's always something you can eat (usually fruit :-) ) which is a great help.

Hope that helps and welcome to our merry band!

Ann

Hi there. I'm 52, weighed over 14 stone just before Christmas so started ww online and am hovering on 13. The comments at work made me realise I really was doing it. It wasn't a fluke so I thought I would give this a go. I'm only on week 2 but it is something for me! I have been surrounded by sporty family and have been the taxi driver all over the country. That was my excuse but now it's time for me. It's only an hour in all ( changing, showering etc.) but gives me such a buzz. Something in me just clicked. I had tried many times before.
