So I did my final week 8 run today and it felt good going a bit faster (ready to collapse at the end mind you!) and I managed 4k in 28 mins, not sure if thats good or bad, but its further than I got on my last 2 week 8 runs so Im happy!

Only 3 more runs to go yey!!!!!

That's fab!!! I have loved C25K but if there is one criticism I have about the whole programme it is about the whole 5k in 30 min thing. It bugs the hell out of me. Everyone is different, sizes, weight, age, fitness. If you run 5k in 50 mins who cares - if you have been a couch potato before running 5k in 50 mins is an achievement and something you can work on.

I graduated in the Summer and still have not achieved 5k in 30 mins (PB 30:19) I am 45 and have not really done any exercise since school. Sunday i am running in my first 10k race I am not worried about my time as long as I'm not last, happy to get round in one piece without injury. I have plenty of time to enter more 10k's and improve my time this one is for the experience.

Aw thanks I totally agree, I guess couch to 30 min isn't as catchy, but really that's what it should be. I rang my dad and told him I did 4k in 28 mins and he was proud, dad saying he's proud is the best thing ever really. I've mapped out 5k and got a fab route, after I graduate I'm going to do it, so excited, and yep I don't really care how long it takes! X

Making your dad proud is indeed the best thing! That's just lovely. :)

Getting faster than you've done before is the only useful measure really - though sometimes, if you're tired, even doing the same as before is pretty good too (she says from personal experience!) And don't forget to remind yourself how long you could run for before you started all this...

Well, from someone who jogs at walking pace, that sounds darn fast to me. :) It's great to challenge yourself, but don't push too hard and get hurt, as you've a graduation coming up soon. :)

Sounds good to me. Getting to 30mins is great- time to work on speeding up after - if you want to. It's true the name is a bit miseading. I was very disheartened to realise I wouldn't be doing 5k in the 30 mins but actually I am still on quite a high that I can run for 30 mins.
