TO RUN OR NOT TO RUN?!

I am due to do my 1st Week 3 run today, After finishing my last week 2 run on saturday i felt some pain in my left knee, I've rested it since and taken regular Ibuprofen, today it feels a lot better just a little niggle in the background. My plan is to go out, Try and find grass to run on, see how it feels, if it doesn't feel right then to walk the route? I'll be gutted if I can't attempt this run! What does everyone suggest?

I'm at the same point in the program and have the same problem. I think rest, really. I've tried to run on a dodgy knee in the past and it just made things worse. I think it is worth watching some videos on running form (found some on you tube). I've figured out I was heel striking so I am going to try changing how I land. Good luck, whatever you decide to do!

HI Alan, I decided to give it a go, managed until the last 3 minute run, 1 minute into it I had to stop running and walk the rest. Knee is Sore now and will definitely have to rest it but at least I know I can run the 3 minutes that was scaring me so much! Will pick up from today when I know the knees ok to run on.

I fight knee niggles and use a knee support on my one knee when I run. I went from a larger brace like support when it was really bad to now wearing an elastic like support. If you have sharp pain, it may be wise to have it checked out. Congrats on the 3 minutes! Gayle

Thanks Gayle I'll see how it goes. It was such a bittersweet feeling, having run the 1st 3 minutes but then having to stop 1 minute into the 2nd one but knowing I could do it!! Frustrating!
