I know about the rest day in between runs but i need to do something today. How bad is it if i go out running today too? Possibly not for my scheduled run, just as far as is comfortable.
I really need the diversion today!! @#$@#

Walk! Donβt run. π Donβt know where you are on the programme but the received wisdom is that it takes 9months-year to build running legs. You can do anything else on βrest daysβ just not running. So how about walking, cycling, swimming, yoga (download a YouTube beginner programme), just some general exercises like squats, bridges, planks?
Thank you for the suggestions.
I am entering W8.
Today i was feeling frustrated and going for a run was my idea of letting steam out.
It wasnt about fitness π.
I find it hard to be motivated on exercises- at home. It is more of a gym-group classes thing for me. I try to but most often fail!
And you are right. It could be a walk.
Top marks for enthusiasm! A long walk is absolutely fine.... I think you already know the answer to the running question though... π€ Don't risk hurting yourself.
Do other non impact exercise... stamina and strength... loads to do and loads to choose from..just don't run... the core strength is important... and those micro tears need time to heal
Full marks for loving it though !
Mayanow, you can do an alternate form of exercise, but you do need to have a rest day from running. This helps your muscles and body recover.
I hope your enthusiasm do not wane for running, but even the best runners have a rest day. You donβt want to have an injury. You can then run the next day, knowing your well rested and prepared for your running session.
Iβve only just started doing some consecutive days running and I started in February. You need a day between at least.
I will be good! Promise. πΌ
What i read on the nike podcast from trainers is that it's ok (once you're in a programme of running - after consolidating c25k that is) to run for 5-10 mins if you feel it every now and then. You just have to give a rest day in the week.
That is all much much later than the stage i'm in!! I just needed this today.
I see you didn't do it, but I still wanted to chime in. Something very upsetting and stressful happened on my rest day between Days 1 and 2 this week and my first thought was that I wanted to run and sweat the emotions out. I'm sorry, who just said that?!? Look how far we've come. Running as coping mechanism!
I didn't do it either.
Yes thank you so much for this!!! Amazing, non? πππππ
