Did my first run tonight. It wasnt actually that bad. My 11 year old son came with me, to keep me company bless him. He plays football so he is really fit and found it a doddle. It was nice to have someone to keep me going. I feel great that Ive actually made a start and i really want to complete the programme. I cant believe that i could run 30 minutes without stopping, havent done that since i was 18!! Well good luk to all other new runners! Lets do it!! Happy New Year everyone.

WELL DONE! True, you will reach the 30 minute mark! Just trust the program and don't rush things and it will all fall into place. Nice your son went with you! Our 13 year old daughter made it out with us once in the first few weeks and decided she would leave the running up to Mom and Dad! :-) I'm married to Steve, smhall, he blogs here also. Continue to come here and blog. This is a fantastic group of runners and we are always available for support, motivation and advice. :-) Gayle

Right now 30 minutes will seem daunting ... but as Gayle says, if you trust the programme it will deliver the result you are hoping for. Don't be afraid to repeat the odd run if you are not quite ready to progress.

Honestly you'll do it. You really will - and astonish yourself in the process. I've just graduated and hadn't run for decades since school. Just stick with it - and if you have any minor setbacks remember that's normal. You may do it in 9 weeks, or you may choose to repeat some runs/weeks to build stamina. Either way you'll get there if you stick with it - and it's an amazing feeling

How great that your son went with you. My 8 year old laughed when I suggested she come with me. Need to work on that.....:-)

Brilliant that you've started - well done, and fantastic that your son came with you! Like others have said, you will make the 30 minutes - just trust the programme. It took me a lot longer than 9 weeks but it doesn't matter because I made it, and so will you. Great start to the New Year :)

Well done for starting in the Old Year, instead of waiting until tomorrow!

Wonder how long we'll be able to run for this time next year! I'm up to 3 minutes...

Well done :) Don't be daunted. I didn't think I could do 90 seconds, but I did. I didn't think I could do 3 minutes, but I did. I didn't think I could do 5 minutes, but I did- see a pattern forming here? :D

Just take your time, it doesn't matter how fast you run. I go along at a glacial pace but it's still running!

Nice that you had company. My 4 year old wants some roller skates so she can come with me!

Wow!! Thanks so much for all the wonderful messages of support. It has really spurred me on. It is wonderful to read all your stories and I will return the favour and give some support back - even though I'm a novice LOL. So happy running!
