.....because I've just signed up to do the Great Yorkshire Run in September 2013. 10K around Sheffield.
I've never signed up for a race before (only started running in January) but I went to the 2012 run as a spectator and there was a great atmosphere. One of my friends has done every one of the six they've held. I signed up within the first hour of it opening for registration. Blimey, that's keen!!

Good on you Ned! You've got plenty of time to prepare for it and the support the spectators give must really help when you feel knackered.
Thanks Isabella, I'm really looking forward to it. AND...today the start for the 2014 Tour de France has been announced as Yorkshire. As a cyclist as well as a runner (yes, Laura says I am so it must be true) I'm SO excited about that.
Good for you, Ned. I really enjoyed the 10K race I did in October; it's a good length to run as I found I could run it at a steady pace with the second 5km being similar pace to the first 5km.
I have several 10k races that I'd like to do in 2013 and as soon as I'm back up and running again I'll be signing up for these.
Thanks. I've just been sorting the vast 2012 pile of magazines and came across a Runners World with a training plan for "Your first 10K!" Serendipity or what?
