Starting Week 6 I think I got a bit cocky after the Week 5 twenty min run had gone so well. I upped my pace (and distance) on Friday's W6 R1 and spent the weekend with tight calves. Then on Saturday I was having a bit of a dance and felt a little pain in my shin. I decided based on the feeling in my legs that it would be best to delay Sunday's run and do a little yoga instead to stretch myself out a bit. I recall being in a similar situation last December when I ended up pulling a muscle on a cold day and that was me out for a couple of weeks. Then Christmas happened and I didn't pick up where I left off. Hopefully I made a sensible decision as I do like to stick to the schedule in my app as best I can.

Week 6
Ooh I hope you caught it in time, sounds like u made the right choice. Am doing W6r1 tomorrow so thx for the warning (was feeling a bit over excited too) I will take it steady.
Keep dancin
Thanks, I think I'll just keep my normal pace until I'm used to running non-stop for 30 minutes then gradually up it. All too easy to get carried away.
Welcome to week 6 Ross! Yes, speed can come later, you are making a great decision. Several grads use speed as a new goal after graduation. Wishing you continued success. Gayle
I did w6r1 this morning and like you I was a bit cocky about the run, after all whats 8minutes after I've conquered 20 mins. Consequence was I nearly collapsed after first five monute run but then slowed down and managed the rest ok. I think there is a definite mental shift after making it past week 5. I really look forward to running now. Who would have ever thought
Glad to hear it wasn't just me! I suppose confidence is a good thing but we must temper it with good sense lol.
