Everyone said this one can catch you out after week 5! I went so slow and thought I’d be fine. The first 5 minutes were hard going!!
I run in the park and the first part of any run I do is uphill, between that and the oxygen debt your body is catching up on-was that what happened in this 5 mins?
I wasn’t fully recovered when the 8 minute run started and all I could think was how did I run 20 minutes just the other day?!?!? Things got better 4 mins in (half way) and I did enjoy it all the way to the end after that!
Anyway it’s done and I’m pleased with the result despite the beginning! Saw lots of lovely swans and took my selfie picture for my post there but the glare from the sun wasn’t great! There are donkeys in my park too-enjoyed seeing them again today! All I could think was how great it is running on a Sunday morning - cold and crisp but sunny, wildlife and there was also a junior park run. These wee guys are inspiring - I so want my little girl to go so we can run around together! Need to be 4-she’s only 2! But the best bit over all was getting home, ready to do my selfie again and my little girl congratulated my run with a big ‘yeah!!!’ ☝️ so that had to be today’s picture-it’s the only encouragement I need 💕

I quite like when it’s nippy out-I’m not a lover of the cold at all In fact I will moan and complain! But I do love a run when it’s cold! Makes me work harder to get warm!
Yikes! I'm doing W6R1 tomorrow... I've also heard it can be harder than the last 20 minute run. Let's hope I can join you in celebration. Good job today x
Great job! It’s a tricky one... but you got it! Onwards and keep on smiling.
On the junior parkrun note, ours has a few under 4s and they’re more than welcome to have a run, walk, wonder off picking flowers, etc... we just can’t barcode them and the tail walker needs to know they’re not officially in the run so he can be with the official tail. A fair few younger ones do a lap most weeks. So if you and her fancied a run why not?
Oh really! I’ll look into it-she night just wonder off picking flowers 😊 but it’s all fun! It would be lovely to get her involved and see what Mummy does when she goes out alone!
I started week 6, r1 went ok, I have so far had to repeat r2 three times tho, just cannot seem to finish it. I dont understand why when I run 20 mins last week... hoping to get back on track today 😊 good luck 👍
I know exactly what you mean!! Just back from R2, it was quite difficult too but it was good and went well! I’m hoping this is the week for turning a corner and it will all fall into place-I’m kind of looking forward to running with no breaks! Good luck with yours-it’s a test, keep repeating until it’s done, your almost there!!!
Yes this is exactly how I felt - like I’d lost it!!
I had been pre-warned by others and felt quite confident going into it. First run I thought ok it’s just on off day, then when the second was the same it just made me think this is the end 🙁 I did worry. But no need it was all great afterwards!
Maybe it was week 6, maybe it was just me? But all I can say is you’ll have off days which are absolutely fine-there will be more good days! I still felt great after the week 6 runs-that’s What kept me going! And as I got into week 7 I realised I needed week 6 to get there - just like every other week gets you prepared for the next!!
