I will, I can...I did! Hurrah...Well, I've made a start...

Having had a Hysterectomy in April, I've decided to embrace this new found feeling of "wellness" and give myself the challenge of Couch to 5K. I'm 43 and the only exercise I've had over the last few years has been a daily sedentary stroll with my 3 fluffy dogs.

Kitted up, headphones on I set out at 6.30am, water bottle in hand, in the dark (which was a definite plus as no one could see me!). I soon got into my stride, thanks to the brilliant podcast and my confidence grew as I quickened my pace and began my first "run". By the 6th run nausea set in but I dug deep, concentrated on breathing and made it through to the end.

It has to be said, I felt bloomin awful! But I'd done it and am strangely looking forward to Wednesday morning and my second "run".

well done, are you taking your dogs with you?

I have a very enthusiastic Schnauzer that loves to come on runs with me in the morning, to the point that if I put on shorts and T-shirt rather than dressing gown when I get up she leaps off the bed and is sitting by the front door whining to go out. When we get back she goes straight back to bed until Mrs Aitch and our lazy Jack Russell get up and she goes on her second walk of the day.

Thats so funny, my bedlington terrier gets so excited when I put on my running gear, you should have seen his crestfallen expression yesterday when I kitted up and left him behind when I went to do a 10k race bless him!

No, they're all a bit dithery and I wouldn't get very far at all! Sounds great fun tho to have your dog run beside you.

Well done! I was physically ill a few of my first runs also. Keep it up, maybe just try to not push yourself quite as hard by going a bit slower. Great job in getting up this morning and going, you are well on your way to enjoying the benefits of this program. WELCOME!

Well done DebsieB on a great start. I've not had the nausea but that's probably because I'm not working as hard as you are. As everyone says, slow down a bit if it's making you feel sick, it's a long haul goal which doesn't need to be rushed in my opinion.

Well done DebsieB, you did well getting off out at that time in the morning too. You did better than me, I didn't feel sick on my first week I just thought I was going to die, I still don't know how I ever plucked up the courage to go out for runs 2 and 3!!!!

Well done, getting up and out that early is very impressive, good luck for run two.

Well done on starting the programme DebsieB. You will feel better very quickly and soon you'll feel fab after running. I remember my first run and I felt awful afterwards. It's a shock to the system but what seems to catch everyone by surprise is how quickly your body adapts to what you're asking of it. Enjoy your journey!! :)
