Wk7R1 what happens in the winter?

Can't believe I'm on wk7 already, who would ever of thought I could run for 25 minutes. I'm already thinking about the winter, as I run around the fields and bridle ways. I don't want to go on the treadmill. I'm so chuffed with myself I brought new running trainers, I'll just have to get one of those head torches I guess

I have the same problem as you. Can't see myself on a treadmill but be very careful. Even with a head torch it will be very dark.

If you can't run in daylight in the winter and don't really want to run on the treadmill, then make sure you are /very/ visible when you go out, and that someone knows exactly where you are going. Head torches are great but I'm not sure they are bright enough to light up uneven footing far enough ahead. Ideally, run with at least one other person (more lights!) and be very careful where you put your feet. Maybe resign yourself to the treadmill when the visibility is very bad? Better than no run.

Head torch worked really well for me. I graduated over Christmas 2010 (was it really that long ago!?!), lots of snow! It's do-able, if you dress appopriatly.

What do people suggest to wear in the winter ? I'm likely to graduate at the earliest late October so most of my post grad running will be in the winter.

I'm figuring I'll have to do at least one of my weekly runs during my lunch hour at work during winter. I don't live in a particularly nice area so dark running on railway tracks and in a dimly lit park either morning or night is a no no. I can manage two runs post 9am from home in daylight as I work one day a week from home. Seems like the best option for me right now as I really don't want to go the treadmill route. That said, there may be exceptions where I have to run early morning and will just have to stick to roads. Like Chewy, I'd be interested in winter running wear suggestions.

I've been thinking about this too! I am thinking that it will have to be two runs a week - one at the weekend and one on a day I work from home. My husband said I should wear a head torch, but we don't have any street lights where I live so it is really dark. Not so keen on that!
