determined to try-any advice would be gratefully received)? Also how much weight has everyone lost by sticking to the program. Thanks guys
I am on week 5 and about to hit the dreaded 20... - Couch to 5K
I am on week 5 and about to hit the dreaded 20 minute run - did everyone manage it first time (I'm terrified I won't make it but I'm
i felt the same way about this run, had convinced myself there was no way i was ready, then just told myself to calm down and just go and try it, and was over the moon when i actually finished it, just dont rush it and i bet you finish it, good luck,
Some things to repeat over in your head:
i) Laura isnt lying. You are now ready and capable of running 20 minutes non stop.
ii) It's all in your mind. It is your mind begging you to stop this foolish pursuit, your body is read and willing.
In terms of weight loss (sorry for those who have already read this) I have lost 75 1/2 pounds (5st 5/12lbs) since i started the programme in March this year.
WELL DONE!! That's brilliant!
Also don't apologies, you can't say it enough times.
You really can do this, loads of us had the same doubts and achieved it first time, try to stop building it up in your mind. You can do this, I recommend going a little slower than normal, mind over matter, if you start to get tired slow down, but keep going.
See you on the other side of week 5, it's great and you'll be there very soon
I hope so! might just go for it tonight and get it out the way! Thanks for your comment
I took me two attempts to get this run done. I think the first time i was so worried that the block came down and I just couldn't go anymore. The second time I was even more determined but followed some great advice from here which was to walk up to a pace were i was just trotting and then keep that pace going for the 20 minutes. It really helped. It wasn't fast but I got there and once you've done it you feel so proud of yourself.
You can do this. You've done the time already its just this time its joined up.
Good luck
You are ready, you just have to overcome the mental barrier, its all in the mind. I was dreading this run but managed it first time, you can do it too!! Good luck
good luck i posted a similar question the day before i did the run. you wil be fine- i definatley agree its more your mind. the preperation work has already been done and keep thinking that!
Just trust in Laura x
I've just done it today, so am living proof! I was also really uncertain...me, run 20 minutes, really? In retrospect I think hitting the 3 minutes is proof that you can keep going...if you can breath and move for that I think you just keep building. Don't know about you, but I've noticed my level of fitness creeping up...stairs that used to hurt I'm now breezing up, walking faster during the brisk walk phase of the run. The programme is really well thought out...physically you are ready...you just need to get your head round it. You will do it and you'll feel amazing when you finish. I still can't quite believe it! Goodluck
Great to hear you achieved it, you must be well chuffed. WELL DONE
