I've not been on here much, or running much for the last couple of weeks - I started a new job that is long hours and walking around all day (don't ask!) so I've not had many free evenings or much energy. So my last couple of runs have been at the weekends.
Weekend before last we did W5R2, and then Sunday we did it again (OH didn't want to move on). Today OH texted me and mentioned it was a run day, which I'd forgotten about, having had my mind on other things. So I hadn't thought about whether he'd want to repeat R2 or whether it would be the dreaded R3. When I got home he was in a mood and didn't want to do running after all that, so I decided as I hadn't been dreading it cus I'd forgotten about it I'd just bite the bullet and do R3, so I loaded it up on my ipod and off I went, all on my own...
I was a bit worried about how it would go, not having the motivation of the OH complaining every step of the way like I'm used to now...
I set off nice and slow, and could see I was going a bit slower than usual (I'm not tracking my runs anymore but just know where 5 minutes usually is).
When Laura told me I'd done 10 minutes I was well chuffed, check me out - PB! Then about 12 minutes in I got a pain on my ankle which felt like a bloody bug biting me - I've been bitten a few times lately at work and its doing my head in. I was torn between stop for a second and slap the sodding thing, or ignore it and press on. I decided the pesky little blood sucker could take all he wanted and that would mean I'd run faster, with less to carry, so I kept going. I knew I'd feel cheated if/when I finished if I'd had (however small) a break in the middle.
And then I made it to 15 minutes and knew I could do it, and then I made it to 18 minutes, and was just grinning all the way. And then when I made it to 20 minutes, I was suitably chuffed with myself, and sufficiently far from home that I kept running all through the 5 minute cool down (till I was 5 minutes walk from home, then I walked)!!!
So not only did I nail the dreaded 20 minute run, I actually ran for 25 minutes, which I never thought would be possible - bring on the rest of the programme!!!
Sorry for gloating and banging on about it, but I'm soooo chuffed!!!
