Hi - Wk 1 Run 1 - and I jogged rather than sprinted - is that OK?

Definitely! I started off jogging and then have tried to build my speed up slightly over the weeks. I completed W5R3 yesterday and managed to do that at a reasonable speed, I think. If you try to go too quickly, you will set yourself up to fail early on. Take it steady :-)

I would never have been able to sprint at week 1 nor at week 9 which I'm now on. It was taking too much concentration to breath let alone pump my arms and legs at any speed. Later on is the time (in my opinion) to try the sprints. Good luck with the programme.

Thank you!! Im still smiling from being able to jog at all!! So chuffed with myself - I can see this is going to get addictive!

I'm definitley a jogger and not a runner. I'm on week 8 and I run as fast as I can for the last minute but the other 27 mins are a nice sedate jog.

At the risk of sounding really stupid.. When does a jog become a run!?

I have recently graduated.. But I do 5k in 36 mins at best.. Finding it hard to imagine going any faster but maybe that will come!?

I'm just chuffed I can keep going !!

I have speeded up but am still at about 40 mins so you're doing well! However I'm now increasing distance which means I have to slow down again in order to get through it....

I consider us all to be runners! I googled it once and I'm right on this :)

My run is the same as a marathon runners all be it in slow motion ;) Now you see my logic? :D

It wouldn't have even occurred to me to sprint! My run is more like a very fast walk! From what I've read on other people's blogs it doesn't matter how fast we go, the goal is to be able to jog/run for 30 mins without stopping, and as long as we're not on the couch we're doing great.

...and as for sweating - just wait till you're doing 25 or 30 mins at a stretch! I often go out with a fleece on if it's chilly, but always, always end up with it round my waist as I'm too damn hot!

Laura says "Just a light jog" - but it is hard to get that on Week One. I can't yet sustain a run that is any faster than I can walk but I have graduated.

Great comment that make me feel so much better, after a disasterous start to week 3 today minus podcast (a long story) I jogged for 5 mins.

I walk at 3.3 and shuffled at 3.5 but I did it. Feel so much better realising I am not alone.

I jog! A bit slow to be honest but it's about building stamina at first. I can actually walk fast than I can jog!
