2nd run/jog

Ok, so I survived my first run but have taken a few extra days to get over the stiffness as my legs seem to think they ran a marathon. Tonight I completed my second run, I wasnt quite as heavy footed as last time (thanks for the tips btw) but I still get the impression my running is about as gracefull as an elephant doing ballet. This time though I did feel my breathing was less like a couple rhinos with a bad cold but still as bad as a panting dog on a hot day. 1 more run to go before i start week 2 on Wednesday.

Great job. We teach our children how to walk... but then they know how to run, how strange is that? I’ve been to junior parkrun and every one of the under 10s runs as though they’ve been trained, very few of them have... perfect footfall, great form, shoulders back. You know how to do it as well, just you haven’t done it for a long time. Don’t worry about form too much, be an elephant doing ballet and just run. Maybe you’ll need to correct a couple of things along the way, but in the main it will just come.

Keep it slow and steady, don’t overthink the breathing, you do that all day with zero need to think about it, just let it happen.

Enjoy your last run of the week, then into week two.

I'm on week 5 and I still run like an elephant doing ballet. But that's ok, I'm not doing it for anyone else, I'm doing it for me. You'll be amazed in a couple of weeks how easy you find it to run for 60 seconds and wonder what those rhinos were complaining about!

Just completed week 5 and amazed myself at how good I feel, chuffed. Not saying it was easy but it’s definitely getting easier.

Congratulations on starting c25k. I've just started week 6 and imho week one is the hardest. Yes really. Your body is in complete shock and probably now holding a committee meeting to decide if it's going to go along with your plan!

In a few short weeks you'll look back and be amazed at how far you have progressed.

Embrace the forum, many of us have found it the difference between sticking with it and quitting. There are many inspirational stories on here 😊 and some very funny ones too... The commeradery is get esp if you follow a number of people doing similar weeks to you.

Very best of luck with the rest of your C25k journey 💪🏃‍♂️
