Why do I feel like a slug could slide quicker than my brisk walk,or indeed my jog (I can't call it a run, jog is push)! Still so happy when I've done it

And what's in a name anyway? You're out there and you're doing it, that's the important thing, so keep it up and keep enjoying it
I read somewhere it is not about speed, it is state of mind and competiveness (sure I have spelt it correct) if you think you jog, you jog, if you think you run, you run. However the most important thing is you are out there doing one of them and hopefully enjoying yourself.
I am running faster than when I first graduated, but it has taken a lot of effort (and aches and pains) to up the pace. I still have the odd pigeon skipping past me when I run uphill, but I don't care how slow I am going - I am running for 30 mins more than I could in February this year and as far as I am concerned if its faster than a walk then it's running. Don't worry about being slow, just enjoy the journey : )
You're moving - that's the main thing. As I often think when I'm jogging/shuffling around my local park I'm still lapping all those sat on their couch (which was me over a year ago).
It really dosent matter. We all go at our own pace. My fast walk is not much faster than my run. I only have one speed running. I'm a slow burner, I know it will all come with time. A physio freind told me a few weeks ago my body is still healing from years of being ill. Just because I can run it does not mean its ready for speed. Treat your body with TLC and it will dictate the speed that is right for you. As time goes on it will change when it's ready. The best thing you can learn is to listen to your body. It will look after you.
yes, I think we are all the same here, I use mapmyrun and sometimes can't tell which was walking and which was running...I can certainl;y feel the difference in my body though, and they say that we should go for the 30 minutes first then speed will come later. I hope so!
Jog / run who cares , the benefits in my mind & body tell me I'm doing good things . Listen to your body , it will tell you , if it wants to jog let it , we are moving that's the main thing just enjoy .
I recently ran a 10 mile race (yeah I did!) and it struck me that many of the competitors were doing little more than a shuffle, hardly lifting their feet, but gently plodding on mile after mile, hill after hill. You notice this stuff when you are at the back and thinking how the hell can they be hardly moving but they're all ahead! I watched them snaking up the hill, stretching out into the distance like a colourful ribbon. They chugged along like a train but their movements were smooth and they were not wasting any energy.
Jeff Galloway that most famous running guru, advocates shuffling and I have to agree that having seen it in action that it works.
So don't worry about being slow.
I'll happily 'admit' (say) I'm slow - technically I believe my pace doesn't qualify as fast enough to be a jog. However, thinking of myself as running gets me out there and active.
I reckon slugs must be quite nippy really judging by all the nocturnal activity evident but you've not actually seen them.
