Well yesterday i compleated my first run. I have been thinking about this for a week or 2 now. Iv also cut right down on my smoking from 15-20 a day (18 years) to 1 -2 a day thats been 2 weeks now and thats thats why i thought it would be a good time to start running.
If i had been on a tredmill i think i would have quit at 17mins but since i had to get back home i carried on (may as well run and colaps at home than quit and wounder if i could have done it) Once home and showered i felt AMAZING cos of the fact I had compleated something FOR ME and all by my self.
Its the 10th aniversary of my farthers death to cancer this year and im aiming to run in the race for life in him memory
Im actually looking forward to tomorrows run now just hope my quads feel better as they feel like gitar strings a the moment.

Congratulations on getting over what I think is the biggest hurdle - getting started. I'm totally with you on the "might as well as I've got to get back home" front, I might have easily quit on a treadmill. I did week 4 run 1 today and I'm amazed how far I've come in only 3 weeks. The best advice I can give is to take it easy, don't run too fast follow the plan and get some proper running trainers from a shop where they look at your "gait". That's what I've done and it has been a relatively painless, bordering on enjoyable experience.
Well done for completing your first run and for cutting down on cigs! I'm only at week 2 and can appreciate the sense of satisfaction and acheivement you feel for completing this. Congratulations and keep going!!!
well compleated wk1 r2 today and now im buzzing that iv stuck with it and realy looking forward to r3 going to be doing leg streches though 3 times a day every day as the old pins are prety sore at the moment, i think if i was to start again i would do some streches a day or so before and defo before and after my run. Why do things from school always come back to you after the event, you all must remember the frustration of the 25min of warm up and cool down for each PE lession and only 25 mins of actual sport now i know why.................. roll on Tuesday.
Anyone who reads this and hasnt started yet feeling a bit dubious hey what have you got to loose .............get out there and give it a go, at worst youl loose 30mins of your life doing somert that you hate (bet you wont though :-)) thats less than watching a rubbish film. An dont worrie about what you think people will think of you all swetty and red faced and probabley looking your worst ever in public since primary school, the feeling you will get in return is alot greater and your the winner not them.
