Wow - whenever there is rubbish stuff going on in the world you guys remind me of the amazing well of kindness and support. Last night was a red night watching my team lose a football match but top the Champions League. Yay overall good red.
Morning started with a welcome mug of tea in bed thanks Mr JCR.
Then a visit to the vet with Fibi Fardashian my greyhound, who has taken to eating her paws, unfortunately her paws match her collar, being a shocking shade of fuchsia. I'm told she has severe anxiety and is now on three separate drugs including Prozac, to reduce swelling fix the dermatitis and reduce the anxiety. Not such a nice pink , but fingers are crossed that we've found a solution. I'd love to run with her, but she's a greyhound who is not so keen on running. Sofa surfing more her style.
White fluffy clouds with a blue sky and pair of red trainers calling me from the bedroom. Okay put on the kit, and dash out. Good White got me out.
By the by, as a kidult I adored Snoopy and particularly his alter ego Joe Cool and this time around with no Michael Johnson (Mr Smooth - remember him?) I've settled on Jo Whiley as my coach . I didn't like her last time around as she felt way too cool and hip (not sure you can even say that word anymore without admitting you're ancient) but hey I'm embracing Cool so now I have Ms Jo Cool accompanying me on my runs.
Big apology to Jo Cool, she's fab - she seems like me - although with many more famous friends and she supposedly gardens in her bra - I'd frighten the horses for sure, so for now I will emulate her commitment to running and nothing more...
Out of the gate onto the Slope of Hope with a quick diversion to Mill Lane, past the pumping station, the olive press and towards Lovers' Lane. First run okay, then walking across the Forbidden Field (forbidden if I have Fibi and Bobby with me) but today rather forbidding as there are large upended tree roots and it's a bit hairy in places. This time no bluster from the wind or this runner, job done and onto the Bendy, Scary Road and in the distance I see an old friend Lord Kitchener so-called because he is the spitting image of that picture except he doesn't point his finger at you, nor is he wearing a military hat, but you get the gist I'm sure.
I run past a guy with hunting hounds who give me a welcoming chorus as I splutter past and then luckily Jo Cool tells me I'm about to get the half time bell, at which point Ultravox chip in with one of my favourite songs of all time Vienna. It's a good spur although not sure the timing is helpful on the walk/run switching point.
The Slope of Hope then comes into view - aargh - it's that 15% gradient again on the last run section, mmm, but even from last time I arrived at that point just that bit earlier than the day before, so I think that counts as progress.
Running up the Hill that Kills, well let's be clear not so much a run as a heave, my face is red, my feet are red, but the sun is shining and so am I . Jo Cool couldn't be more welcome when she says I can enjoy my 5 minute cool down walk.
I had forgotten that I do enjoy this - even though at present it's not really enjoyment it's some kind of masochistic torture. Tickled pink I did number 2.... only twenty five more to go haha
ABC are singing Look of Love as I finish this post, this forum as before is the embodiment of the Look of Love!
