Week 4 Run 2 done...

β€’20 Replies

Well I've just finished the 2nd run of week 4.

Warmed up well, did some stretching before my run and yet still the tightness at the front of my shins returned. Don't think it was as bad today though. Once again after my cool down walk, the tightness disappears. Stretched again and I feel fine now.

Apart from my 1st run of week one, this week seems to be pushing me. I guess if it remained easy there would be no point. On the bright side, I'm completing the runs and feeling ok.

Can't seem to get enough sleep this week and it's going to get worse as I'm working nights for the rest of the week. So even though my next run would be on Sunday, I'm going to put a question mark on that day, all depending on how tired I'll be.

Feel alittle deflated the past fews days. Not sure why but I'm hoping my mojo returns asap.

Have a lovely weekend all and good luck to you if you're running.x

Mojos are curious things. Sometimes they are right there with you, egging you on; and at other times they seem very shy or even go AWOL. It's hard getting out there when your Mojo has deserted you, but getting out there is the way to coax it back again.

You did really well today on your second run of week 4, especially as you felt it was hard going. But you did it! You finished the run! and that's what it's all about. If your legs are still achey there is no reason why you can't put in an extra rest day. The weeks are a guide, and shouldn't be truncated, but there is no reason why you can't overlap a bit into the next chronological week to give your muscles a little more time for recovery. Sometimes if I have two or even three days rest every now and again I find my next run is much easier.

Listen to your body, and look after those legs.

Hope you find your Mojo soon. :-)

Thank you for your kind words. I must admit, since I've started this programme, I have ran religiously every other day accept for once when I was working the weekend. My next run would Sunday which would've been the 4th run for this week, so maybe it's a good thing that I'm working all weekend now and may not get to run now until Monday. God knows I do some milage at work anyway.

Must try to remember not to be so hard on myself. Think it's just hormones at the moment.

Don't be hard on yourself. You are only meant to do 3 runs a week, which means there is always going to be a 2 day rest between two of your runs. It's what your body needs to do all the repairing of the little tears in the muscles etc, and for you to recover. Enjoy the second rest day as it will be beneficial for the next set of runs. :-)

We need you to get that mojo back so that we can see another bright smiling photo! You're doing fantastically well, take your time, take it easy and enjoy! Good luck for your next run ;0)

Thank you. I really need my mojo to return quickly too because after my last couple of runs, instead of feeling happy, I've felt sad. Being too hard on my myself I guess, plus we all get down days. This week has definitely been a down week for me.x

Donna, I looked back at my record and I did start taking the extra rest day here and there about at this point in the programme. It really helped my mojo.

You're doing really well! Keep it up and you'll be on the podium before you know it!

Well done you.. maybe you are just a little overtired.. keep up that stretching too :) Are you doing some other exercise on rest days too, it does help to build up stamina and strength.

β€’ in reply toOldfloss

Thank you. Yeah I am tired right now. Been one of those weeks and it's going to get worse.

I usually just go for my long walks on my rest days. In fact I try to walk everyday. At least the minimum of 5 miles a day.

Good job completing that second run!! :) I have opted to rest today and pick back up tomorrow for run 3 (due to a migraine earlier in the week)! We can do this!!! I think this is where it begins to be a mental challenge!!

Tiredness is a killer when you're training and if you have night shifts to contend with as you probably know that takes its toll anyway.

Take the rest and btw mojos generally hide near your trainers, so when you're not tired and then you put on your trainers, your mojo will come back.

Well done for keeping going, even though this week sounds as though it has tested you a lot

Thank you all once again. I really do appreciate your words of encouragement.

Think I'll leave the running alone until Monday now. I think my body will be great full if I didn't push it come Sunday.

Sounds like you're doing well to

Me. I'm w2r3 and dreading it getting harder but actually it seems ok at the moment so I'll be so glad to get where u r! Well done

Awww thank you. I was so anxious leaving week 2 and moving on to Week 3. That was the worst transition yet for me in terms of my nerves. But you know what.... it was just fine. You'll be just fine too. I guess we all want to succeed and part of wanting something will make us over think things and sometimes the nerves and anxiety get the best of us. This programme works though and we will make it in the end. Well done to you too Or10 on making it that far. Keep up the good work.

Ive actually hated running all

My life. But I'm starting to not hate it quite so much ! It gets me out when I'd otherwise be busy doing other stuff and mainly It's the challenge of not to give up

When everyone thinks I will that's keeping me going. !

Good luck πŸ€
