Week Seven, Run One

I cannot stress how much I (a) didn't want to go today and (b) kept wanting to stop all the way through and (c) never thought I'd make it to the end. But against all the thoughts in my head, I DID IT

And don't let the above snapshot of 24m 56s fool you - it was definitely 25 minutes !! Next time I'll carry on for a few seconds longer, just to satisfy Strava.

Next run Thursday. Let's hope I'm in a better headspace for it !!

🍏👏 You will be. Each tough headspace run sorts you out for the next one “ I did it last time, I can do it again” So well done for perseverance! Great stuff! Xx

Well done MB those mind games are horrible! Well done for conquering them in this run. That DID IT moment is great though .... keep going onwards for the next one and keep fingers crossed for nice weather!!

Cheers Richard and for the kudos on Strava

Absolutely brilliant MB - well done you! When you are able to start when you don’t want to, and plough on when the going gets tough. Just do the extra 4 seconds - you know you can!!😂😂😂

Thanks Redbuz. Jo Whiley told me I'd done it so I stopped Strava, but it must have been a few seconds behind. I won't make that mistake again - my OCD won't let me !!

Thanks so much. And by my calculations, I think tomorrow we will both be doing 25 minutes, is that right? We can spur each other on

Yes it’s 25 mins tomorrow I think !!, I have been doing this programme every other day because I feel that if you only do it for example Mon / wed / Friday that leaves two days of rest before the next run which I don’t know if it’s recommended or not !.

yes but your ahead of me I’m only on the third run of week 3 , I don’t know what’s ahead in week 7 and I think your two in front of me ?.

Yes - week seven is just 3 x repeats of the 25 minute run. So if you can do it today, you can do it all next week no problem. You'll be doing your first 25 mins today and I'll be doing my third. Onwards and upwards for us both !

Yes I did my first 25 this morning a bit of a struggle due to getting hot and taking waterproof off etc but got there !

The front of my shins feel sore that’s a certain

Well done on getting out there and getting to the end. Not sure what to suggest for your shins. Stretching is recommended on here - not sure if it'd help you?

Tried standing on my tiptoes and heels of both feet but it sure slows you down running like that !! Only joking

This is the type of run that is a real win, ! The easy runs are easy...the runs like this one... they show your strength and your stamin!

Well done you!

At some point in the coming months/years you will find you've changed such that you have the mental situation where you're itching for a run but your circumstances stop you from doing one.

Today's frustration was replacing a split tumble dryer drive belt during my lunch break. It went nothing like the instructional video and at the end I had two screws left over which meant I had to take most of it apart again to find out where they went! However, the tumble dryer now works again.

To be fair, I do already (sometimes) fancy getting out there on my rest days. It's just when the actual run is due that I don't want to go haha. Well done on fixing the tumble - I would have called someone to do it and been faced with a big bill !

The part was £5.50 and the next-day postage was £6.50. I don't know what my time would have cost. 🤣
