Hello, this is my first post - but I’ve been reading your helpful and inspiring posts here for weeks.
I guess I just wanted to celebrate a little because I completed W5R3 last night and I’m feeling pretty proud!
Like probably most of us who start this programme I really wasn’t sure how I’d get on. In fact, I tried C25K many years ago (when I was younger, slimmer and fitter) and stopped at exactly this point because of injury. It feels great to match my younger self!
In a strange way, I think what’s helped me this time around is being a bit older and less self-conscious. I’ve been running at a snail’s pace to try and let my body get used to this new activity in its own time. This feels really good for me. Younger me tried to go too fast and tended to put a bit of a spurt on every time I passed people on the street, so I didn’t look ‘unfit’! 😆
Onward to week 6 now and more unashamed slow running! 🏃🏽♀️

Hello and a huge welcome to you! You have done and are doing so well ! Celebrations indeed!
Slow is absolutely perfect...and nothing to be ashamed of... ever.
I have been famous or infamous with all my friends here, for my mantra of Slow and Steady, ever since I began running at the tender age of 65 ...now 74
It gets you where you want to be... safely and having had fun!
Having confidence, in yourself and YOUR pace is a great attribute....
If you have done this before, then you may be aware that Week 6, does have the power, unfounded, really, to upend folk... check this recent post out..
Welcome to this super forum and congratulations on completing W5. It’s always a great start to go slow and steady Running at a snails pace is always a good option when you’re starting off. I always think that C25K is like preparing for your driving test you learn the basics ,enough to get you through your driving test ,then once you’ve passed it’s you that has to build up your experience. At the beginning there’s no need to go fast ,that way you’ll just burn yourself out pretty quickly and perhaps give up.
C25K is a gradual progression. You have to get the feel of it and most of all enjoy it especially the triumphs like you have just had. As for going at a snails pace well that’s great too. Even when you’ve completed C25K it’s up to you how fast or slow you want to run. Our lovely Oldfloss I’m sure will give you lots of encouragement about snails pace and of course other useful information.
Carry on the way you are going we are all so proud of you and of course definitely you should feel proud after all look how far you’ve come👏👏😀
Welcome and well done on that famous Week 5 run! Good luck with week 6 - don’t let the return to walk breaks wobble you ( it does some people). You absolutely can do this!🙂
Such exciting news! I remember what a milestone Wk5R3 was. 20 minute? ‘Are you kidding me??’
Well done on your efforts. You’re more than half-way to your goal!!
Slow and steady, as many will tell you is the name of the game! I used to tell people that my briskest walk was faster than my running pace. You’re right, it doesn’t matter!!
Good luck with Wk6. R1 can be a little tricky but you’ve got it! Do keep us posted!
welcome and well done. Older and wiser - my lightbulb moment was when I realised nobody actually was looking at me - the older you get the more invisible you become in just about every aspect of life. Very liberating 😀
Well done on doing that landmark run! You know you can do this now for sure, don’t you? It’s great to hear that Team Snail has yet another member - it’s definitely the way to go!!!! Good luck with week 6 and keep posting.
