So 4th consolidation run today....

It’s my only day off this week as we are short staffed so it was my only chance to get out for a morning run (my preferred time) unfortunately yesterday I pulled my back a bit at work nothing major bit of a low back twinge but I also worked 12 hours without a break and was therefore probably very dehydrated too :( ......had a very restless night as I couldn’t get comfortable.

Got ready this morning.... and yep back still a bit of a niggle but usually exercise helps so thought I’d give it a go. Tried to get my Nike running app working and it wouldn’t work !!! Coach Bennett abandoned me when I really needed to be told how great I am!

Sooooo first run without a “coach”. I put on run pod which if you haven’t given it a listen I think it’s very inspirational (just not the Keith lemon one that’s just amusing) and I set off....

First 5 minutes I’m ok, 10 minutes my hip and back twinges 15 minutes it’s not easing at all.... at 17 minutes my other hip starts hurting so I had to call it a day 😭.

It’s the first time in 2 weeks I’ve not run at least 30 minutes and other than my back it was feeling good!

Going to have a good couple of days rest with some gentle walks and hopefully run Friday.

Now for a warm bath, hot water bottle and ibuprofen

Oh no, that doesn't sound good! Good on you for going out there anyway, sometimes we just have bad days and have to listen to our body. Work can be so difficult sometimes, I really struggle to be hydrated with my 8 hour shifts, so I can't even imagine what it must feel like for you. Could you not maybe consider buying one of those massive water bottles that you can sip on throughout if that works for your work lifestyle?

Technology is a nightmare as well honestly, fingers crossed it works next time!

Thank you x

Oh I hope it works next time.... since covid we aren’t allowed to take water bottles into the rooms when we are looking after someone, and yesterday I just couldn’t get out very often to have a sip of water :(

Going to hydrate myself better today and tomorrow and hopefully rest a bit so I can run Friday x

Oh bless you! Sometimes things like that can happen, especially if you are busy. Definitely sounds like a good idea resting up for a little bit, bet Fridays will be a brilliant run 😊

Everyone has bad days so try not to dwell on it! Like you say, hopefully after some much needed rest you’ll be able to get back out there and give it another go - not every run is going to be perfect but as long as you get back out there, that’s all that matters! Good luck - you’ve got this!!☺️💪🏼
