Had plantar fasciitis on/off for a couple of years and flared up again. Had 6 sessions with the podiatrist and doing exercises but not getting any better. Worse than ever. Any advice welcome, or are my running days over 🥲

Oh gosh... well if you have seen your GP and had exercise recommended by a podiatrist... you could take the next step... pardon the pun...and see a physiotherapist... has your podiatrist recommended insoles.., and shoe choice...?

Loads of useful information here...

As we are not medical experts and we are all so different , any advice we give really is not helpful.

My feeling is go and see a physio' ,maybe a sports physio' and then you will have a starting point again.

Keep us posted please.

Yes, bought some hugely expensive orthotics but not helping.

I’ll give a Physio a spin to see how I go.

Thank you

ouch ouch ouch…I know exactly where you’re coming from…I’ve had plantar on and off for about 3 years…wearing extra flat shoes/sandals can bring it on for me…I find stretching my toes works…and luckily for me it hasn’t affected my running..def keep in with whatever exercises you’ve been given…and I don’t think it’s the end of your running days but maybe consider what trainers you have?

Ask the podiatrist about some insoles. I have them for that very reason too.

I also had a cortisone injection after almost 2 years of nothing working. Now the insoles to keep the arch up & extra heel cushioning. Good luck.

Ok thanks. Have the insoles so will check out the cortisone jab

wondering if the injection helped, and what the first few days after injection were like?

Hi   Davidcara yes it did. I have had no issues since & that was over 18months ago. I still wear the insoles when I go out running too.

I think it was a little tender for a few days. Nothing major that sticks in my mind. It has been the only thing that worked for me. I had plantar nearly 2 years before I had the injection. Had the ultra sound too which didn’t do anything & NHS & private physio didn’t help.

Good luck.
