Well it had to happen. Came home from Lisbon with week 7 in the bag, all revved up to start week 8. Running kit washed ready for a run the next day.
Then it hit me. In the middle of the night, like a dose of Norovirus. In fact it probably WAS a dose of Norovirus 😶
I'm just about emerging from it, I ate a little bit yesterday with no ill effects, and I had porridge for breakfast today and I am starting to feel hungry again. I have no energy and I'm very sleepy so I'm not sure when I'll feel like the next run or what it should be.. but I doubt it will be a week 8 run.
Anyone else got tips for coming back after a nasty bout of gastro-enteritis?
I expect there will be a few runners in the south west who will be interested too!

Oh no!! Poor you-that sounds absolutely miserable. I had norovirus last year and it took me a while to bounce back from it. My top tip is just to try and be patient and don’t push it. My comeback run is always 15 mins max with permission to stop earlier if I want to. See how it goes. You might find your energy levels take a while to recover and it’s sensible to err on the side of caution in deciding when you’re recovered enough to try a run. Going out for some walks first is a good option. I guess that’s the same after any illness but Noro really does take it out of you. Don’t rush back and look after yourself ❤️🩹
I wrote you a reply but it's disappeared - thanks for this, it sounds like good advice. I can't believe how useless I feel at the moment but hopefully I'll pick up when I can eat normally again.
Oh nooo, sounds like what I have had and it's taking a while to get properly over, I've been for 2 runs now, both low heartrate, both sooooo slow as I still have little energy but it's improving.I just went out and ran slowly to see how I went, hope you feel completely better soon
🍏🤗🙈Sorry to hear that!!! Yes the symptoms stop long before the energy and oomph return!!! Be kind to yourself and drink plenty of fluids. Your body will tell you when it’s ready! Ease back in gently… Get well soon … 🌺 🌷 💐
Aw ... so sorry that you have been poorly. I do hope that you are already on the mend. Week 7 complete sounds like great progress to me. Here are some get well soon flowers
Aw thank you for the flowers 🥰 I'm feeling a lot better as of yesterday, I even went out briefly! I plan to go for a walk when it stops raining (which won't be today by the looks of it ☔)
