Haven’t posted for a long time. Some of you may know that after reaching my goal of a 10k continuous run I contracted COVID in September 2022. Diagnosed with Long Covid in December 2022, really struggled to even walk 400 yards but saw an improvement last Summer and got to Week 7 all be it very slowly. Then in October last year had major relapse which required visits to A and E with major breathing problems. Had x3 courses of high dose steroids plus inhalers and nebulisers. About a month ago started on a new steroid inhaler usually given to people with Chronic obstructive airway disease, my doctor looked at my peak flow readings and said “of course you were a heavy smoker” I have never smoked a cigarette in my life! Anyway new inhaler is helping and yesterday, my partner and I walked 8 miles in the Campsie fells. No steep inclines and we took our time but I’m so pleased with myself. Complete rest today in our cosy Motorhome as it is raining but as we are away for a month, hope yo do some mire soon.

You have been through the mill! I do know where you're coming from. I started C25K just over a year ago after 3 years of long Covid. Before I started I couldn't jog slowly down the garden - 60m.

Last year I walked it a couple of times a day, rested at the end and then walked back. I did it until I could do it there and back, then I started jogging it. After a couple of weeks I started C25K and graduated in June.

I should say that a month or so before I started there's no way on earth I could have run down the garden, no matter how much I wanted to. And if I had I would have had a good long time in bed. At the end of the previous year I was still spending 3-4 days in bed every 6 weeks or so, 3 years after Covid. It takes so long to get over the darn thing!

8 miles is a simply awesome walk! I could have done that pre-Covid and now I'm running 50 minutes, one run out of 3 and getting 6-7k; so 8 miles is still out of my reach!

I wish you all the very best in your continuing recovery.

So lovely to see you back again. Sorry it’s been so tough. That 8 miles must have felt like a step in the right direction (well, a whole load of them really!). Wishing you much success in your continued recovery. There’s lots of support available here as you start this new journey. Good luck! ❤️‍🩹

Glad to see you on here again, but sorry you’ve been having such a struggle. Hope you are on the right track to make some steady progress towards recovery now. A month away in a motorhome sounds like fun!
