I'm a bit stuck on week 5 run 2 This is my 3rd attempt at C25k and after reaching week 9 in 2022 I had to have various chest pain investigations which turned out to be a muscle issue. After a lot of osteo appointments I'm now back in the saddle but I'm finding the 8 min run brings on the muscle pain in my chest and shoulder. Sometimes it eases so I'm going to keep trying this run in the hope it's just a matter of getting stronger.

Could it be a posture thing? Are you tensing up your shoulders and arms when running?
Thank you, yes it's possible. My osteo says the issue stems from tension in my neck and shoulder and a weakness in my left side due to a historical motorbike accident injury. I'm doing my best to relax my shoulders and neck when running.
The frustrating part is some days I don't get any pain. I can work out if there is anything different on those days.
🍏 welcome to this forum and well done on getting back into running! nowster advice could be your reason! Hopefully you are running slowly so that you can breathe normally and be able to hold a conversation!
Here is a guide to our program which may be helpful too!
What a nuisance for you. Are you still seeing your osteo? It might be worth a conversation with them, or a physio to see if there are specific strength exercises or stretches that could help. Unless you’ve been told it’s ok to run through pain (I had guidance from my physio about how much was ok for how long at different points in my run), it’s usually best to stop once it comes on. I know that must be frustrating.
Really good luck in getting to the bottom of this.
Thanks for your encouragement. I will speak to my osteo about it next time and ask about strength exercises. I have seen my osteo for a few months so that could be what the problem is. I just need to keep the treatment up.
Yes it does feel better to stop when the pain comes on. I let it subside then try again, and sometimes that small rest is enough to get rid of it. Other times not.
