Oops… I did it again

There is a pattern emerging (it’s happened twice, anyway) of feeling ill, posting about feeling ill here, and then going for a run later in the day. I guess it’s good to share, right?

It came about like this… oooh, the sun is shining… I must get out… puts on running gear for a walk… feels tired and stiff… maybe a stretch first… browses YouTube… clicks on cool looking monk guy… copies him (looking less cool)… getting into it… feeling my flow… zoning out… oooh, an ear massage… nice!

Honestly, it was great. I thoroughly recommend trying this Qigong Meditation morning stretching routine. Despite feeling easier than yoga in some ways - it’s less intense and there is flow, rather than held poses - I felt (and heard, boy, did I hear) the stretch, and I felt very zen at the end.

So much so I went out and ran for 30 minutes!

Whoop whoop!

That's a good recovery!, yesterday at work I thought my calf felt a bit tight, so planned to have a rest day today. Well that's just as well, I woke up this morning and I can hardly swallow 🤷🏻‍♀️😕

Oh no. Bugger it. Have you got scratchy eyeballs to match your scratchy throat?

Not so far, and hopefully not!.I do feel rotten though, and my central heating has gone on the blink and the gas engineer can't get here till Monday, so I may just stay in bed.

All the signs appear to be pointing to pulling the duvet over your head. I do hope you pick up soon x

The extra weight that we can put down and leave by telling the world (well, this little world) can be all that is stopping us.

Very well done you... a few of us on the Zen Path right now... and Changing Room Chat, next time, is focused on this and T'ai Chi too.

Believe it.

Excellent. It would be great to see our elders in the parks practicing their Tai Chi. I’m finding yoga less accessible than I used to as the arthritis kicks in. Even child pose, which is meant to be relaxing, is really painful on my knee.

I’ve just come across Qigong through this video. I enjoy relaxing into the meditative and spiritual spaces these kinds of practices bring, and these movements are slow, flowing, with coordinated deep breathing. Even with the ear massage there was a movement for breathing in, and another for breathing out.

I had a little fantasy of a Qigong warm up before Parkrun, and lots of utterly chilled out runners!

I love Qigong - it feels like it’s not doing anything and then you suddenly realise you feel about half a stone lighter and free - weird but works

Yes, just that! Like the negative energy has been released and you are in balance again. Have you been doing it long? Do you take classes, or do it at home?

I go to a class but it is suspended for the winter because it’s an outdoor session on the beach. Hopefully it will start again in the spring. I try to carry on at home with a bit of online tuition but it’s not quite the same. The last session in the autumn was on the beach at sunset which was amazing
