Week 2 - here we go...

Irishgirlrunning23 profile image

So I am going into week two today! Spent a lovely weekend with my sister and nephew. Trying to now motivate myself to get out the door.

My body is attempting to put me off. I now have achy fingers, very dry eyes (no tears even when sad 😢), tiredness, sore muscles and a sore underarm. With intermittent, mild flashes of a warm feeling down my leg, arm, hip etc.

BUT...

I am determined to not let this derail me.

I'm going to get up after writing this, get my kit on and get outdoors for a nice, gentle week 2, day 1 jog. Why you ask? Because I am 100% fed up of feeling crap and want to become fitter and healthier.

Writing this is helping me to motivate myself into doing so. I'm not trying to be negative in focusing on my health issues, simply realistic about why I've not been successful in managing to keep a running routine going in 2023, and documenting it to see if it improves or worsens with this programme.

Thanks to everyone again for your helpful advice/tips. I am going to get up now and go for it! 😀

Hope you went out and managed it?! Just get the running gear on and get out the door…once you are out - you won’t come back without at least trying to run. Hope you are ok? Focus on positives and you are trying your best for your future self and she will thank you for this xx

Yes I did 🙂 thank you! It was freezing but worth going out. I like the longer 90 second runs. Health wise in the middle of being looked at by doctors to see what's going on but it can take a while. Definitely trying to stay positive and keep going! Thanks so much 🙏

Great you managed your run. It’s always a balance for me to decide what’s tiredness that means I’m better resting and what’s a bit of tiredness that gets better with going for a run! Wishing us both luck in getting that right. Good luck with your next run. ❤️

Thanks so much! ♥️ It is a tough one because it's like on one hand it could be the sort of tiredness that feels bad now and okay after a run, or the sort that feels bad now and worse after a run 😂😂 you never know what you're gonna get! Thank you so much again and you too!!

As a long covid sufferer, I completely get you on the fatigue front. As someone who, until this time last year, ran monthly HMs, to be back at the point where I'm effectively starting from scratch again is frustrating but, in a way, it is teaching me to pay even more attention to what my body is telling me than I did in my pre-covid days.

Onward and upward. It is very definitely not a race...
