Week 1 in the bag

3 runs down, 24 to go. No obvious ill effects that I've noticed.

Next week involves a slight increase in effort, so will be interesting to see how the body responds. Learning to pace myself and not get overtired is one of the hardest parts of this recovery process; it's not just about having the energy to run, but also to be able to do the rest of daily life things. It's definitely a fine balancing act.

So pleased that it went well for you. I looked at your profile and see that you were a very keen runner, so restarting C25K must be weird. Take it steady and with any luck you will regain fitness and return to a little normality in life. Keep us posted on your journey 🙂

Thank you. It wasn't a position I every thought I'd find myself in, but that's the way life goes sometimes. No half-marathons for me anytime in my immediate future...

🍏🙌Week 1 done. You are off to a good start. Keep it slow and you will have week 2 in the bag as well.

Well done..do what you are able, fit the runs in to suit your life, relax and take each run, slow and steady.

So pleased you're finally being able to get out again...wishing you all the luck in the world for a continued recovery 🤞🙏👏

When I came back from covid (not as long lasting as yours thankfully but after catching it 3 times last year it really took it out of me) I was left with post exercise fatigue.

After I'd generally improved so could work, walk, clean, shop etc...I started back running. The runs were going well but I kept feeling unwell the day after, and was constantly having to take a few days off.

My son suggested a simple fix I honestly hadn't considered which was to go out for only 10 minutes and build up.

I started with 10 mins and was fine after, increased to 15, 17, 20 etc and this really helped me find my way back to running.

I'm sure you're a pro at managing your health after such a rough year...but just a thought in case it's something you need and hadn't considered 👍

That's essentially what I'm doing. I stopped for about a month after I had covid in November and when I started back to running, I started slow and built up, but I think I took it too fast and too soon as I was also experiencing extreme fatigue the following day. I 'peaked about mid-February and then the distance and the pace just started falling away, with my last run being mid April at my local Parkrun.

This time out, I'm going extra slow and basically "learning to run" all over again.

They do say patience is a virtue...good job as after a nasty illness like that you have to have the patience of a Saint! Good luck 👍

Well done, sTrongFuse. I think you're right about pacing yourself being really important. Definitely helped me today when running after a break.
