Week 1 in the bag

What I love about C25k, is the little rewards you get.

If I was doing this on my own, I'd have just done my 3rd run (if I actually got out of bed this morning). That would be it, nothing special. But by doing C25k, if achieved something. I've completed week 1. Might sound silly to anybody not doing the program, but for me, it's a real motivator. If you're just starting out, I'd really encourage you to stick with the program and keep coming back here for inspiration and encouragement.

Must admit I'm surprised how every run feels different. The last two 60 second runs were tough today, which makes me nervous about week 2. However, I hear the mantra, go slow then go slower. I find that hard but I am listening and I am trying.

Now I'm looking forward to 2 days of pressing snooze on a morning :-).

Have a great Monday everybody.

Well done, a week ticked off! I get what you mean and have felt the same - I’m going to have to think hard about how to get that feeling after I graduate! I also like the structure - I follow and do what the coach says, when if I’d been running without it, I would have thought, ooh I’m getting tired, I’ll just walk a bit, that’ll do! 🙈😂

I love the structure. Both of the end to end program, and each run. Without it, I'd have probably given in by now!

Good point, I hadn’t thought about it like that, and now there’s another motivation, and believe me I need all I can get! Well done - The first of many milestones completed.

I’m currently dreading R1 of W3 😱

Have a good day

Wk3 looks scary. I'm not going to think about that one just yet! Might need to do wk2 twice lol

Please don't dread any run.

You need to adjust your mental approach.

Hi Wenderwoo. I went out this morning and managed to complete W3R1. By jove running for 3 whole minutes did seem like a very long time (because it's twice as long as I'd run before, and three times longer than I couldn't run in the first week), but I managed it, and you only have to do it twice. I did find I needed to do more stretching afterwards than I've done so far, but am looking on that as a positive sign that I'd worked myself more. You can do it, have faith, just go slowly (and slower still if you need to).

Congratulations on completing week 1

Onwards to week 2, each time I have moved onto the next week I have thought that was hard how will I manage next week but keep the faith it's the magic of c25k!

Thank you! I guess if it was easy, we'd all be going straight to week 9 :-)

We'll all get there in the end!

Well done on completing week one. I agree, there are those little (or not so little) milestones along the way that provide inspiration.

I found week two a lot easier than week one. Yes, the running sections are longer but there are fewer of them and, psychologically at least, that makes such a difference.

I suspect we may well have another addict on our hands... If so, you're in the best company.

Thank you. With a couple of days off coming up, I'm feeling mentally ready for week 2.

Week 3 looks like a big challenge, but maybe not after w2 r1!.

Especially after I reward myself with some new running shoes :-)

Well done for completing week 1, only 8 more (running) weeks to go, no matter actually how long it takes for you to get there. I know what you mean about motivation and the feeling of achievement. I find the encouragement & advice I get on here great motivation and very reassuring. When I (finally) finished week 1 I was quite pleased, but then questioned why, what have I achieved, it's only running for 60 seconds a few times? I would have been able to do that when I was a kid! Then I thought a bit more about it, remembered that I certainly not a kid (I'm 63), remembered the first time I went out and tried week one and the problems I had, it took me until my fifth attempt until I could complete the whole run of week one, so yes finishing three in a row was a great achievement, which (along with the encouragement from here) it spurred me on to looking forward to starting week 2. It is a great journey this C25K lark, and no matter how long it takes me, I am determined to complete the course, not just for myself, but also to prove to all of my new running buddies on here that they were right, I can do it! Keep it up and keep us posted, now enjoy your two rest days, you've earned them.

Wow... you earned a congrats for completing wk 1 with bells on and a cherry on top.

How many people would have given in?

I have absolutely no doubt at all that you will make it to the end.

And I agree wholeheartedly, the program and this forum have to go hand in hand.

Week one is the hardest it’s before it becomes really addictive, my partner has sore knees at times and it was around week 4 that i decided if he couldn’t i would keep running anyway

Enjoy week 2

Well done. I struggled to do as I was told until week 5 so you are a faster learner. Keep up the good work and enjoy the rest. You earned it 👍🏼

Thank you. I'm still setting off running too fast. I'm not finding it easy to get the right pace. But I suspect week 2 or 3 might force that on me 😁

Well done! You got there! I recommend that if you are listening to music while running then put something slower on, it really helped me to slow down. I started with dance music and soon realised it was making me go too fast and wearing me out! The plan is now just to finish c25k no matter how slow I am and then think about building up from there. Pat on the back for you migster!

Good shout on the music.

Now you've said it, it's obvious.

But it never occurred to me until you did 😆

I'll have to pick out a bit of Kenny G 😆
