Reminder: SLOW JOGGING is your 'secret sauce'/'cheat code' to C25K success

Whether it's Japanese Slow Jogging or Niko Niko (little difference), or shuffling (see the videos below) ... this is the way* to approach C25K as a 1st timer.

Nice and easy - there should NO struggle, no pain , no breathlessness (a sure-fire clue) and you should be able to EASILY hold a conversation - call it a 'chatty pace' if you like.

*although I don't agree with the whole heel-striking thing

MaudeChasen here you go. Watch these videos carefully, especially the first one and see how easily they can chat. Are they going more slowly than a brisk walk? Probably, but that doesnt matter cos as you move through the program you'll naturally speed up without even realising it.

Always good to be reminded why I and a lot of others are slow runners, thanks Jihn

Ellenio - have a look at the videos above - hope they help :-)

Thanks so much for these. I'd seen the first one a long time ago but it was very helpful to be reminded by watching it again. I notice they're not wearing 'running shoes'.......

Well observed! But ... 'running shoes' is another rabbit hole for us to fall into and a WHOLE subject on its own ... I really wouldn't focus so much on it. Safe to say - just decent normal running shoes will suffice for any beginner and needn't cost more than £50-60.

Another caveat is the whole heel-striking thing, as also advised by the infamous Laura - several of us think this advice is wrong . No need to even think about footstrike - a lot of it is determined by pace - sprinters run on their toes , whilst marathon runners can be heel, mid- or fore-foot ... whatever comes natural is normally best.
