You were all so kind and generous with your advice when I posted my concerns about feeling exhausted after recent runs, that I felt I should confirm the good news that I've cheated the grim reaper this time! All of you suggested I should see my GP - so I did...and I'm embarrassed to say it wasn't an incipient heart attack/stroke/aneurism as I feared - merely a gastric bug picked up from my germ-factory grandchildren! What a numpty I am. So yesterday, I went for a run but really REALLY dropped the pace to slow walking speed. I also told myself I could stop at any point if I wanted to. Amazingly, taking off the self-imposed pressure completely regenerated my joy in the whole thing...and I actually tottered around the park for 30 minutes - not breathless, not aching. Well that's a BIG lesson learnt - scrap the self-imposed rules and just enjoy it!!! Thank you everyone.
Reports of my demise are premature!: You were... - Couch to 5K

Oh thank goodness,, yes heartrate soars even if we are a bit unwell, and slowing down makes a huge difference.
Well done you for finding out what was holding you back, there'll be no stopping you now!
Welcome to the πππ (this is supposed to be a snail emoji but you coulda fooled me)
Ah, the under-rated joys of slow! Funnily enough I really believed I was slow BEFORE (and compared to everyone else, years younger, I was) but I've now taken slow to new heights of delightful tardiness...and there I will stay until I darn well feel like moving' on!
Thinking of you and your sister today π€
That's so very kind ToothPickJafah - when I rang her to congratulate on her last day of chemo (unfortunately I didn't dare go and see her because of this tummy bug) she was baking her world famous cheese scones in preparation for a soup-and-scone celebration tonight. Drat!
"not breathless"
Good! Please keep it that way π ... it's the 'secret sauce' or 'cheat code' to success for the majority of your runs.
