Week 5 complete! Self discovery all the way!

Despite some threats of rain, I completed week 5. The thought of this one seemed overwhelming just a few short weeks ago, but Parker and I just finished it up and we could not be more thrilled! As we are running at our slow pace, it has given Parker an opportunity to learn about some good leash walk practices. Left is our magical word as his love of chasing something to the right while cutting me off mid run, which never turns out nicely...lol. I like to think we are both works in progress and I am thrilled with how we are both doing. Slow, steady and mostly consistent. I have also been more forgiving with my Scheduled runs. I have from Sunday- Tuesday to do run 1,

Tuesday - Thursday to do run 2 and Thursday to Sat to do run 3. This has been working around my kids and husband schedule well. I really enjoy how we can make it work despite a busy family life. Mornings are key for me as it has really helped with the commitment to both Parker with his exercise and also mine...lol.

I am also realizing that I am a one goal at a time kind of person. I originally was really watching the food and runs, but I found with the summer and holidays, it is best to focus on one thing at a time.

It has been an exciting and little scary journey (scared of failure), but I keep tackling each day at a time and my goal is to reach week 9 with success. Thanks for giving me a place to share Parker and my journey.

You are lovely, Parker! How wonderful to do your runs together in the morning. Your disciplined schedule with leeway is a magic formula to success! The fear of failure is always lurking 👀 but you can banish it. Firstly you are tackling your goals one step and one day at a time and finding this you time exciting. The ace up your sleeve is that if a particular run doesn’t quite go the right way .. we call it a practice run, and we do it again after a rest day! On C25K there are no failed runs or time limits. I love your title! Totally what running does for us!I see you live in Canada 🇨🇦 I will be in Calgary in the Autumn 🍂 visiting my son & running too!

Thank you for your kind words! I am in Altlantic Canada, but I head out to our prairies often. Calgary is beautiful and I hope you enjoy your visits! I have a question on the second run idea..how does the redo run work with the rest of the week? Interesting concept.

If you do Week 5:1 on Mon then decide to repeat it.. you do it again on Wed. Fri you do 5:2 then Sun 5:3 then Tues 6:1 etc Otherwise just stick to M W F if it suits you better. You just carry on one run at a time repeating any that you want to. Some runners repeat whole weeks. It’s all in your court. No pressure. If you complete a run, no matter how difficult you find it, you are ready to do the next one. Very few of us felt ultra confident about the next run but trust the program it really works in your favour!
