I did my first run of week 6 (5+8+5) this morning. Coming up to the end of the final 5 minutes a song I really like started to play and I had come to a straight, flat part of the path so I decided to run to the end of the song - an extra 2 minutes. I know it's not a lot extra, but that wasn't the point. What was significant to me was that I actually had a little bit left 'in the tank' as someone else here put it. Only a few runs ago it was such a relief to hear, 'You have finished, you can slow down to a walk now' because I felt as if I'd been running on fumes for the last few minutes. The scales aren't showing any signs of the progress I'm making, so it's really motivating to make a note of other bits of 'proof' that I'm getting stronger and fitter: having a bit of energy still at the end of a run; walking faster when not running; recovering much more quickly; covering more ground in the same space of time.
My next 2 week 6 runs are scheduled for 6pm on Tuesday and Thursday - both days have rain forecast but I don't care. I'm looking forward to them and all the rain will do is help me stay cool!
Have a great week running, whatever week you're on!

Great progress Amerynthe ⭐️ Don’t let the scales worry you: you’re turning fat into muscle and muscle is heavier than fat, so you won’t see immediate effects just from this programme. However, muscle also burns calories quicker than fat, so it’ll all come out right in the end 😀
Well done! I just did mine too. I found it hard but I was back to my gradual hills route today after treating myself to doing my 20mins on the flat. All of my last 5mins was uphill so I was ready to stop!!
Great! Well done for incorporating the hill into your run - I always leave my hill for the warm-down walk! Maybe I'll give it a try on Tuesday night, and try and do the last couple of minutes on the hill ...
Great job. Careful not to overrun the next couple now, we don’t want an injury and your proved that you have some in the tank. Enjoy getting wet on Tuesday! 😂
Oh, I'm not getting complacent, by any means! Someone said 'Respect the runs' and that is so true. I'm going to store up what's left in the tank for that graduation run on 22 December - Southampton Park Run!
