I graduated a few weeks ago and within a week I was up to 4k, and now I can add 5k to the list. Wow, I can't believe it. I'm at my son's and he encouraged me to be a parkrun tourist at his local run- Wycombe Rye. Now I thought he was coming with me, but he bowed at the last moment as he hadn't run since their new baby was born at Easter, but I was now committed. It was a brisk 20 minute walk to the event so I was almost ready to run on arrival, just some stretches. Off we went but it was so hot and humid. I soon fell into pace with a fellow runner, so we chatted away and soon we were half way round faced with a long set of steep steps, phew that was tough, then back we go. 3k...4k...anything else is now a bonus...4.5k my supporting crew was egging me on so I couldn't stop now. It was just grit and determination that saw me to the end, I just didn't want to give up. I tell you my legs were like jelly at the finish, but I made it and a PB for parkrun to boost. My garmin had it sub 40 minutes, but the official result was another 50 seconds. Exhilarating and exhausting. My son says he'll come next time. Fab, fab, π π
