Running again- Thank goodness

Back from breast cancer, I have decided to get myself fit again. I have run long distances for most of my adult life (apart from kiddy times). So my plan is to do C25K without rest days (only Sunday off) to get back there ASAP :)

Hi

congrats on being back from breast cancer!

I believe that most people here will advise against running every day as the rest day in between allows your muscles to recover and helps prevent injuries.

Good luck with C25K!

Huge well done on being here after a real battle..! Good to see you.

Please do read this essential guide to running C25K...full of useful information and great advice.

The programme as you may know, is carefully structured, designed to create gentle progression and keep us injury free; and if you are following it, here on this forum, then at least one rest day is essential between runs.

Do keep posting too, for support and inspiration :)

Congratulations on going to restart C25K, however, one of the most important thing is that you do not run on consecutive days as that could cause a injury, good luck for your running journey with C25K but you must not run every day.

Good news. Well done to you for your determination .

Would it be maybe a good idea to do some strength exercise prog on the in between days of an alternate day run programme ? Upper body/core type stuff.

I managed to give myself shin splints earlier this year -I was running alternate days but not doing full cool down post run stretching. It has derailed my progress and I’m only just restarting right from the beginning . It has been a real nuisance especially as the GP said definitely do not run as the next stage would be stress fractures ! That made me take it seriously!!
