Pap17 Recovery still ongoing

Tomorrow is 7 weeks since I tore the joint between my calf muscles and now I am 4.5 weeks pain free. I am now in the gym three times a week doing physio using weights and have progressed to single leg full body weight and the weights on the machines are going up. Still a few weeks away from being allowed to start running but after this time away I guess I will be starting C25K again from the beginning. I hope your all ok and still running.

That sounds like great progress Pap, you can surely see the light at the end of the tunnel now. I'm on the IC myself after kicking the bed leg (don't ask, the bed won!)I'm not sure where I'll be, I got to week 7 but I've been out for 7 weeks now, so I suppose I'll start from week one and see how that goes 🙄

I just realised, we've been injured for the same time!

Unlucky Grumps - that's really bad fortune (and timing!). I hope you're able to get running again very soon. You may surprise yourself at how well it goes when you do. Good luck!

typical getting so jealous when I see the Physio putting people on the treadmill but doing more physical exercise now so hopefully it won’t be the full four weeks before I can start again.

I hope so but I guess under physio it’s going to be a start again job.

You have both my empathy and sympathy Papillon. I too cast doleful glances out of the window at this time (Parkrun) on a Saturday; in my case it is an IT Band injury that has taken me out for 3 months now. Sounds like you're well on the mend which is excellent, and your gym attendance may well mean you can dodge the earliest weeks of C25K when you start up again. I'm at least on my bike again now and hope to tentatively run a km (or 2) before long.

Good luck 9to both of us) with getting back at it - hope it is sooner rather than later!

I am at parkrun regularly as a volunteer getting a fix that way and then go to the gym afterwards.

My physio is sending me to the gym too. Absolutely inspired by your progress! So glad your pain has subsided. Really hope that the runs aren’t too far away for you ❤️

thanks MissUnderstanding yes it’s hard doing other equipment in the gym to take mind off lonely treadmill in the corner. Cycling, rowing plus weighted equipment along with single legged exercises using hand weights. Increasing the number of exercises and hopefully it will be before the date he said of around 11 weeks have an appointment with him again next week so hoping he may do strength plate tests again to see if I have made progress and improved. I have dog agility judging appointments coming up on the horizon so I need to be able to move freely as they are long days and lots of steps. Good luck with your gym visits.
