Hey Everyone

I'm new to the forum, but I've been on a few others since October.

I'd like to introduce myself, my name is Valentina I'm 24, last May 2022 after never running before in my life I started running I took up couch to 5k I fell in love with running and started parkruns I even signed myself up for a 10k for September 23 then in October I had a heart attack while running I'm a teacher and I was at work on a free period I went out and collapsed I don't remember too much after that.

I was recovering well and volunteered at my local parkrun. I even had walk/run a parkrun but in March 2023 I had a cardiac arrest and developed pneumonia.

Today for the first time in about a month I was back volunteering at my local parkrun. I'm looking forward to walking it again soon and I'm determined to run a 5k again and hopefully that 10k

V x

Wow, that must have been awful for you. I hope your doctor is following your training and heart health

Well done for sticking with it

Hello again Valentina98 So glad you have joined us here 😊

Whilst you are not running it might be a great time to sit with a coffee (other beverages are available 😁) and have a nosey through our programme guide !

healthunlocked.com/couchto5....

Also lots more useful information in our FAQ section of the forum here .

I wish you well with your recovery, I will (as you know) be re doing the programme again soon .

I would have been starting on Monday but I have gone and hurt my back cycling 😐😐😐

So a week or so delay.

I will have a physio appointment on Tuesday so 🤞

Hello and welcome... we have been expecting you :)

It is so good to see you here an Instructor57 has given you all the great advice and the links!

My only bit to add, is do, please, keep us posted on your progress and do please pop into the Catch Up Corner... where you can sit and rest a while until the runs begin listening to and sharing in the chat :)

Slow and steady , you will get there:)

Get well soon. Advice given in these forums cannot replace that of health professionals. I do not have and have never had any cardiac problem but I now use a heart rate monitor (Garmin Foreunner 45) when running in order to remain in the aerobic regime when training which is that recommended.
