Yes, folks, I reckon I can confidently say I'm over my achilles injury. It's just an occasional dull ache now, and I've run four times since I started back, though I was surprised how hard it was to get running again. I had a very gentle 3k run last Thursday, concentrating very hard on not unduly stressing that foot, On Saturday, I did Parkrun, though I found that incredibly hard! OK, it was windy and the ground quite muddy, but my legs tired quickly and I completed it in a very disappointing 32:17. Monday was better, I had a much more encouraging 5K run out, and today was lovely. I really enjoyed the 10K I ran today, and felt good. I started out intending to go for a long slow run, but kept picking up the pace because it just felt natural. I did it in 63:16, which considering I did start out at a fairly gentle pace I'm very happy with.
Next up is the QE London Olympic Park 10K on Sunday - anyone else going?
I've never been there, PP, though I've driven past it a lot, and the ArcelorMittal Orbit is visible from the street where my parents live. It'll be a great way to see it for the first time!
The future Mrs. B and I picked up awful chest infections (probably from all the coughing and wheezing passengers on the 'plane from Portugal who always manage to sit around me) so today's the first time I've been out of the house for a week.
Happily though, it was to collect my costume for the Santa fun run.
If ever I manage 5k in 32.17 I'll buy everybody champagne! I'm just getting back into it as well Steve, and as a result have wimped out and only doing the 5k at the Olympic Park on Sunday. Good luck with the 10k sir!
