so today marks week one completed! I broke my proximal humerus at the end of January!

since then no I haven’t been able to run or even leave the house due to the pain! I have gained a stone & 1/2 and fitness went out of the window! So now the pain is more manageable this is where I am starting to take back control!

I completed Day three while doing Park Walk what a beautiful day !

Sorry about your recent proximal humerus BGood and congratulations on completing week 1 of C25K, I hope you enjoyed parkwalk this morning in that lovely sunshine, in a few weeks time I'll be getting another Covid booster jag, it's on a Friday afternoon so I will go to parkrun but probably will walk most of it like you did, onwards and upwards to week 2 of C25K.

Oh my goodness-poor you with your broken shoulder! That must have been so tough. Really glad you’re back out there now and congratulations on finishing week 1. I used to have a little treat every time I completed a “run 3”.

You might already have found our programme guide, but if not it’s well worth a read.  Most important is keeping your runs slow and steady at a pace where you can talk in full sentences without gasping.  Most of us go too fast! It’s a funny thing to recommend (running more slowly!) but it helps you develop better as a runner. Recovery days between runs are absolutely essential too and to be enjoyed!

Lovely place to run and great start. Really looking forward to hearing your updates!

No that’s very true! I have been very guilty of running before I could walk and end up injuring myself! So this time very very gently follow the plan no over doing it!

Let’s face it, I think all of us have that tendency! You’re in very good company there!! Really good luck to you 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

You are amazing and doing so well. It’s so healing to be able to get out and see all the Spring flowers. That is such a horrible injury. I broke my proximal humerus 6 years ago and gained weight too.

After my recovery I decided to get fit and started running and going to the gym. The weight went and more and I’m now much fitter.

Wishing you all the best with your recovery.

thank you! Yes it is a horrible injury for the 1st month it was absolute torture two and 1/2 months on I need to get back in control of my weight and fitness! I am being very careful as it still hasn’t healed properly! The shaft fracture is fully aligned and healing it’s the head and rotator cuff and frozen shoulder that are the major issues now! The gentle arm swing when walking a brisk pace and the gentle swing of a jog are helping!

Being in the fresh air is wonderfully calming!

oh it’s so painful. Can you lift your arm yet? I remember the gentle arm swing. My fracture took 3 months to heal, but months of physio after to get the full movement and strength back.

You’re doing well. Wishing you a good recovery.

I can move it a bit enough to wash under my arm 😂 it’s a massive step forward! It’s still very stiff! Physiotheaphy starts next week!

I have had frozen shoulder in this arm before which has made this complication more likely!

I am using stretch bands and very light weights to do exercises at home!

Good luck with your physio. Can you sleep lying down yet? I’ve still got the old electric recliner chair that I slept upright in. The FB humerus fracture support group was great.
