Welcome ... and well done you! Gosh, I am not sure that I have come across this question before. We are not as you know medical experts, and I certainly cannot recall anyone with similar issues.
You will of course have taken expert advice on this to make sure you are not causing any problems. There is advice available, online but I have no idea where this would be helpful to you?
This article which I found and which may not be the same issues that you have stresses that it is NOT medical advice.
I shall be interested to see if there are any friends here on the forum who have similar or know of anyone with similar issues? There experiences of course, would be quite specific to them.
My only advice would be to get the advice of the experts and even maybe sound out a Sports Physio also?
Correct shoes and inserts are vitally necessary. Needless to say I am going very carefully. I watched the video on slow jogging with much interest and am experimenting with getting that technique right. I find it far less jarring than how I normally try to run. I have done quite a bit of hiking and my injury occurred in 1985, which unfortunately shows my age, but means that moving around on my slightly shorter foot is normal for me.
I am trying to run as lightly as possible, so at a snails pace. But I have just finished week one. I may take forever to finish the program but I would like to see if it is possible. I have great respect for my feet and know when to stop if things are not ok. Thank you for the link.
This forum is a huge resource and I am learning so much.
You clearly know how to proceed with this... and snail's [ace is perfect. As the Original Grey Snail, ( I Graduated aged 65...now 72 ), I can vouch for this!
Lightly does it is the way.. the picture here may make you giggle !
Anything that helps alleviate that impact on our feet, ( ankle and knees, too), is so helpful.
The forum has a wealth of info' as you say and that includes the Strength and Flex one too, where you may find some helpful ideas for keeping your strength and stamina up?
I missed this yesterday. Congratulations on starting. Just wanted to wish you lots of luck. I can see Oldfloss has already pointed you to some of our best sources of information!
It might be worth posting with your partial foot amputation mentioned in the title so it might be easier to spot. I can’t immediately think of anyone in the same position but that doesn’t mean there’s nobody out there.
Really looking forward to hearing about your running journey ❤️
