Week1 Run2

Morning All, Newbie here. I started week 1 on Sunday and I managed a slow steady jog each time Jo said to run. My next run was scheduled for today and as I lay in bed this morning at 6.30am with all the excuses for not going floating in my head, like its too dark, its too cold and I still ache from Sunday! But do you know what I did? I left the comfort of my lovely warm bed and I got dressed and I was out the door by 6.45am and again I managed a slow steady jog each time Jo said to run! It may not seem like much but I am so glad I did as I know I would be sitting at work now feeling miserable that I didn't go instead of writing this. Thanks for reading and have a good day all :-)

Well done! It is always better to go than not to go and discipline early on will help you to become a runner over the next 9 weeks :)

Really well done. Once it becomes a habit, it gets easier and easier. In fact, later on you may find yourself wishing you could run on your rest days too 🙂Best of luck with your progress, you are off to a great start. 👍🏼

I loved reading your post! It's great having come through the programme and out the other side, but it's lovely to re-do it through a newbie's perspective. I envy you! It's such a good programme and you're just at the start with all of it ahead of you.

Yep, just do the runs as laid out. Don't have any discussions with yourself about should I or shouldn't I, just do it. It's so much easier.

Have fun too! It's a blast! Always slow and steady. That's all you need to do. Slow is the way to go! Slow will get you where you need to go! It will take you further than you ever thought possible

Thank you, I really want to do this and get to the other end! I feel like it’s something I’m going to enjoy so hopefully I’ll get there. 😁

Well done! Breaking the lethargy is more than half the battle I think and it's always worth it afterwards! 👍😁

Thank you. There’s not much I’d get out of bed for before I have to that is 🤣, so let’s hope I can keep it up.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. This thing is addictive but I think it's the feel good factor that is the drug 😁

You’re right about the feel good factor and I was so much more chilled on my drive in to work than I normally am so that’s a good thing. 😁

It's such a blast Lou I can't tell you. When you get beyond 5k and are running on towards 10k and then your running opens up all sorts of doors

It's big fun! I am 60 and running to loud music is hard to beat. I feel fitter than I ever have in my entire life. My only regret is not doing it sooner!

It’s so good to read how passionate you are about it... I aim to be like that. Although the thought of running for longer than a minute is a bit daunting at the mo so baby steps 😁

Hi, I've just started couch to 5k too, just completed week one run 2, and can completely relate to what you said about thought of running more than a minute, but I know I can do it given time as I've completed the 9 week programme before and run a 5k park run at the end, BUT I then had a huge lapse of exercise and became unfit again so am struggling through it again, but it will be worth it...it is entirely possible and you feel heaps better for it. Keep at it, I'm sure you will be running like a pro at the end!

Hey, I started week2 yesterday and dare I say ‘easily’ managed the 1.5 minute runs, although definitely felt it at the end 😁. Good luck with your journey and the bonus for you is you know you can do because you’ve done it before 👌.

Absolutely, baby steps! It's how you get there. I love slow running. It takes me places. When you start running you have no idea where it will take you do you. You only have the next run in mind.

Well done.

It is only a matter of time and you will be jumping out of bed before dawn just to get your fix.

Have you read the guide to the plan? healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Enjoy your journey.

Hi, well done for starting the program that can be the hardest bit! It can be hard sometimes to get the motivation but once you get out there and do it you’ll feel so much better for it. I did week2 run 1 yesterday morning and felt really good all day, the plus side of doing it first thing is it’s done and you haven’t got all day to talk yourself out of it. 🤣
