Week1 run2 done tonight!

I was going to do it in the morning but as work is a nightmare this week I chose to do it after my hours dog walk. So I am pooped now! Still struggling with the mental thing of trying to be positive about it and not think of it as a chore. I need to get back to where I was 2 years ago. Anyway, run 3 here I come!

Well done. I've got Wk 1 Run 2 on the menu for tonight.

I'm glad I'm not the only struggling with the positivity at this early stage! (sorry, now sure how that's helpful for motivating you!!). I know plenty of people who all tell me what a buzz they get from running. I tried running a few years ago and just about made it to a VERY slow wheezey 5k, but never got that feeling. This time I'm going to combine with strength training, I hope that if I can get better results and some of those good feelings (rather than feeling exhausted and collapsing into a heap at the end of each run) that will help spur me on and I'll start to look forward to the runs.

Good luck with run 3 and the PMA! :)

Strength training has helped me immensely. Though I was doing that long before the running, but actually they've complemented each other very well. I found the strength training helped my core and posture, and I'm certainly used to working through fatigue. The only time it didn't help is if I got very extreme DOMS, whereby even balancing on my legs (just standing up) was difficult. Still, but day 2 after a leg day, the DOMS were helped enormously by the run. They're great things to do together.

Thank you! Hope your run goes ok too! I ran a couple of years ago and had much more positivity about it!

Well done on the second run. I also have just done the second run on week 1 and am looking forward to run 3. I started back running 5 weeks ago after approx. 15 years, did far too much in the first two weeks and then spent three weeks limping around feeling sorry for myself. This programme will hopefully stop that happening again!

Keep up the good work!

Well done on getting out there especially after work and dog walking. I remember thinking the same, but about Wk5 it kicks in that you might just be feeling like a runner and enjoying it! Are you running with Laura. Her podcasts are invaluable, she always has an encouraging comment just when you need it :-). I am on Wk8 now and never in a million years did I think I could run 5 mins non-stop never mind 28. Good luck. Look forward to your posts to tell us how you're getting on :-).

Thanks! For some reason I cannot get the Laura podcasts to work properly!

I struggled with them on my phone so now put them on a basic MP3 player. Works much better.
