So I’ve been training hard for this half marathon that I’ve signed up for in April 2023.
My usual run is 8km long, however, after looking around for advice I found that training for the half marathon is not as hard as I thought it would be.
I now regularly run 12km my PB is 16km (10 miles). Not bad for someone who started C25K in august 2022.
Basically what I’m saying to anyone is. Starting small and keeping going works. Don’t go all out. Just small achievements every week.
By the way, I did join a gym. Running in the snow and ice is to dangerous for my liking. I will say that running on a treadmill is so much harder than running outside. If you’re doing that at home and finding it difficult, I’m not surprised. Go outside, you’ll find it’s easier and will make you feel amazing.
I love running at 4am on a sunny morning. That’s my preference.

Hi Neilyx , congratulations on your progress! Hope you're not training too hard though, it'd be a real shame to pick up an overuse injury.
To endorse what Roxdog said: you'd be very welcome over on the Marathon Running and Race Support forum: healthunlocked.com/marathon...
You absolutely don't have to be n elite athlete to participate. Here's the blurb:
About Marathon Running and Race Support
This community is about connecting new, aspiring, and experienced half marathon and marathon runners and those training for any sort of racing event. We share support, stories, experiences, and knowledge. Please feel free to join to talk about race events, training, anxieties, nutrition and more - everyone is welcome whatever your level or ability!
We even invite runners taking part in organised races (in practice that's usually 10km or more) to send details to the monthly events post, for a name-check and a virtual pompom cheer by forum members for race day! Hope to see you over there. 😀
You have moved on so much since you Graduated... was that three years ago? Not sure from your past posts.
Do please head across as suggested to the Marathon and Half Marathon forum, they will give you so much useful and really informed advice to get you to where you wish to be safely and enjoyably. Lots of friendly folk across there !
We do of course here, on C25K advise our new runners to follow our C25K programme..which is why I am just making sure that our new runners reading your post do know you have been running a lot more, since completing the nine weeks!
After that of course, there is even more advice available for them too
You’ve done brilliantly to complete c25k and keep going. It just goes to show what a super little programme it is for getting people who don’t run up and off the couch and into some amazing places.
Good luck with whatever comes next 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
[I should have said-they’ll give you a 10 mile badge over on marathon and race running if you ask! It’s very friendly over there!]
Thanks Neilyx - I'm gonna increase slowly, I dont have a time (PB) to tell you yet. I always run outdoors - and always on the running track - I too am paranoid about ice and snow, and dogs, and roadside chatting, the one thing I do know as a complete non running cynic until aged 64 is that I didn't know what I was missing - including, and importantly, a better nights sleep - Good luck with the running too!
