My C25K journey and beyond 😊

Hello fellow runners,

I thought I’d put this post up in the hope it will help and encourage any of you who are just starting out on your C25K journey.

I graduated in Dec 2017..... just over a year ago, at the ripe age of 69 😱

I found it hard at first, the thought of running 3mins non stop scared me but I got through it, as we all do, with a glowing sense of achievement after Graduating at the London Santa Run 2017

I’d have struggled without the support and encouragement on this forum as I was running alone......it’s brilliant on here and you’ll get all the help and advice you need 😊

I went on to complete ju-ju-‘s B210K plan in February....I found this easier than C25K so don’t be daunted by the thought of running 10k!

After running a couple of 10k’s, I started training for the Great North Run last September which is a Half Marathon. I completed it in 2:44...... so many people but what an atmosphere!

A month later, I completed the Oxford Half in 2:28.....I’m never going to be the quickest runner out there, for me it’s the enjoyment and the freedom I get out of it, plus I’ve lost a stone in weight since I started 🤗

I’m now training for the Brighton Half in February.

I turned 70 last month and still can’t believe how far I’ve come since completing the C25K programme....I’d never been particularly active prior to that so all I can say is, if I can do it so can you!

Put your mind to it and you can achieve anything 😊

Why thank you Ju ☺️

I know, I can’t help competing with myself 🏃‍♂️😊

Great story, it sounds like running has changed your life for the better. I hope my journey is a quarter as successful! Thanks for sharing 🙂

Fantastic! Thanks for posting. It's good to hear what is possible with preservance. Good luck on your next half!

Thanks for sharing. It’s so good to hear the success stories. I’m definitely not planning on running marathons but I’m not going to rule out 10k. At this stage I’ll be happy to reach 5k, but it does worry me the number of people who are on here doing the C25K for the second or even third time because they didn’t finish or they stopped running not long after finishing. It’s an awful lot of effort to put in to not go on and continue running.

Good luck with whatever races you have lined up this year.

Running isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.....me, I was totally addicted after graduating! 😀

Some have had a forced break for whatever reason and use this as the way to go to get back into it.

If you’d said to me that I would run two HM’s before the end of the year after I’d graduated , I’d have said you were raving! The point I’m making is never say never 🤗

Enjoy the ride 😀

Happy Runniversary for December Ted...your running has and is, taking you a long way!

So great to see what you have acheived and to share our running adventures on the forums and on Strava.

A truly inspirational runner. Happy 70th birthday last month... and good luck getting ready for that Brighton HM in Feb. Brilliant!😊xxx
