today was my long run. last week I had a so-called easy week & brought it back to 4miles. this week I upped my long run by half a mile from the week before & ran 8miles. best bit is, I ran 8 miles outside!! a long while ago I did a 10mile plan alongside carolec & managed 8 miles of that on the treadmill. on the treadmill it took me 1hr23mins but today, outside it took a whopping 1hour37mins&48seconds. & I ran all of that. didnt stop once. did slow down to almost a walk but didnt stop
well, another 5.1miles & that will be my half marathon distance in march. so probably another hour of running hehe.
right, plan of action for this week:
tuesday ~ "fun run" 30min run with my 14 year old daughter who will be off school for one of those academic review days
thursday ~ hopefully a pilates class ~ I am first reserve so with any luck someone wont feel up to it.
friday ~ hill training or speed run. maybe on thursday at the gym if I cant do pilates
sunday ~ long run again. aiming for at least 8miles again.
my hips hurt now ok whilst moving but as soon as I get up after sitting, wow, annoying pain. not too painful to stop running you understand
happy running. have a great week

Good to see you are doing well and sticking to the plan. I think your tme is good...prob what mine would be if I could go that long (my 10k was 74 mins)
thanks ali. I dont really have a plan other than adding half a mile a week. 16 weeks left til the Bath half & feeling confident about it now
you sound as if you have been doing lots of organised runs. think I may have to join you in doing a parkrun soon. am sure 14year old will be up for that, except I wont be able to keep up with her
you reminded me that I didnt do one of my stretches that I usually do as my trainers were really muddy today & hadnt taken them off. off to do them now. might try the swimming tomorrow if I get the time. all this running can interfere with family time
That sounds a pretty decent time - my off-road 5 miler yesterday took me 1 hour 8 minutes (officially anyway - we measured it as a minute quicker) and when I've run 10k on the road it's taken me 1 hour 9 minutes so I might just manage 8 miles in your time on a good day !
Well done, I hope your hips recover quickly.
BTW, I find getting to the loo a good motivation for finishing, never mind cake !
Well done on continuing with the plan and managing to do all this and remain injury-free. I'm a bit jealous of you as I, too, want to run long distances, but am currently still trying to recover from the injured thigh muscle. I'm still not able to run 5k without it playing up. I'm trying to be very patient and rest, rest, rest, but it's hard.
hip pain has disappeared but think I may have to strap my right leg up today as it hurts behind my knee & this is the knee I had injury with shortly after finishing c25k.
I dont think this running lark comes injury free. my legs are complaining today.
I hope that your thigh muscle sorts itself out soon. does swimming help at all? x
