This morning I completed my First Long Run (35 min) on NRC app. Honestly, I was dreading to go out for a run, had no confidence, no stamina and felt out of shape. First 3km was great but last 2 really needed considerable effort. I am glad I completed the run without any injuries.

Well done! NRC has a comeback run I’ve done a couple of times after a gap. It’s such a nice feeling when your last run was today rather than a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks MissUnderstanding . I am glad to be back, I just need to be persistent with my rin schedule.

Focus on the positive- despite your doubts you went out and ran, the first 3k were enjoyable and despite the challenges- you completed the run. Not every run is sunshine and unicorns, and the ones that stretch us mentally and physically have a particular satisfaction IMHO. Give yourself a firm pat on the back!

I would schedule the next run and maybe think about mixing it up a bit. How about setting yourself a goal or developing a plan? The weeks after graduation can be a bit of a tricky time, until running becomes entrenched as a habit.

Thanks Hidden . My run schedule is now tight I can only do Fridays and Sundays. I get home from work when its dark (i.e.Mon - Thur)🥶. If something comes up for the weekend, I can easily fall into 2 weeks of inactivity.

Have you looked at running head/chest torches? Join a gym/ buy a second hand tredmill or put it on your Christmas list? Or could you go out in the morning or lunchtime?

I dont want to underestimate the challenges (I've been there!) but think its really important to get out as regularly as you can. Otherwise you risk two weeks becoming four and then it all starts to fall apart.

You just need to get through the darkest months. By February everything will be brightening up again :)

Good for you! Always difficult after a break. I’m just getting over a chest cold andhave missed running for 10 days. Will maybe get back tomorrow with a reduced 4k run (about half my usual run, three days a week).

If the congestion is too great or I feel otherwise unwell, I’ll just stop and wait a few more days. Luckily, your stamina and condition don’t just drop off of a cliff when you stop. Found this after enforced breaks through ankle and knee injuries.

Good luck! Strange how we miss it even when feel feel lousy.
